enoel1This website is for students 4-14 + a fun interactive site that teaches about the US government and how different areas work. It also has information about Native Americans and different tribes. I would use this website to teach students about the government and how things are run. (Ex how and what is a bill.) It has fun interactive games that are broken down by age group as well. --Social studies

dohertylindaBen's Guide to the U.S. Government, a service of the Government Publishing Office (GPO), is designed to inform students, parents, and educators about the Federal Government, which issues the publications and information products disseminated by the GPO's Federal Depository Library Program. It is our hope that Ben's Guide to the U.S. Government fulfills that role.

aseaton123I liked this because It first lets the student pick the age group they are in and then it will help them learn about different government things based on their age. I think this will help in the classroom because students will learn beyond me in an interactive way.

sbrown312This is super cute. It's an interactive site that takes kids on "Learning Adventures" exploring parts of the U.S. government, both historically and as applies to the modern day. And you are led through it by a little Ben Franklin character, which always makes things more fun. This could be an option to allow students studying U.S. government to explore specific things they are interested, get a survey of topics available, or become experts on certain topics they could then later share with their classmates.

ahille3The website includes information broken down by different age levels – I looked around in the ages “4-8” section. Information is provided in short spurts on different topics (i.e. each of the 3 branches of government; Bill of Rights; how laws are made, etc). These are in the “learning adventure” area. The website itself is colorful and engaging. I LOVE the visuals in the game area and how you can click on each picture for a brief description of that aspect of the particular branch.

This site provides learning tools for K-12 students, parents, and teachers. These resources will teach how our government works, the use of the primary source materials of GPO Access, and how one can use GPO Access to carry out their civic responsibilities. And, just as GPO Access provides locator services to U.S. Government sites, Ben's Guide provides a similar service to U.S. Government Web sites developed for kids.
