agraffagniniWISE is a simple yet powerful learning environment where students examine real-world evidence and analyze current scientific controversies. I sampled a project on velocity to see what the site offered. The simulations were simple, but the lesson offered real world problems with questions embedded throughout, and integrated reading, math, and geography (map skills). The best thing about WISE is the number of features that allow teachers to monitor and guide students through the lesson online. I have highlighted these features so that I can return and use them. What I found interesting about the content was that some of the projects were more like unit plans that teachers could use over a long period. The only downfall I see with this site is that the projects are set up like chapters in textbooks. For example, the project may be named Cellular Resporation but there are so many different topics overed within the project you may not easily find a topic you are looking for.

ElRo ResourcesGreat resource from NSF. Online learning modules allow students to work on a wide variety of projects. They can examine controversial issues through inquiry and debate, and propose solutions to problems. A very useful tool.

Jennifer JacksonThis is a great site for Inquiry Based Science Lessons to institute into the classroom. Great programs set up to foster inquiry in the science classroom. All types of lessons for all types of science lessons. Levels: k-12 Cons: Make sure to check the lessons and incorporate the NYS learning standards as these are lessons from other states.
