The Children's Literature Web Guide was created by David K. Brown of the Doucette Library of Teaching Resources at the University of Calgary. This site is updated often with new links to authors' websites, web stories and library resource pages. There are discussion boards open for reading help and recommendations, and one for upcoming conference information. The site is organized by search needs, so it is easy to manipulate. For example I can click on "Lots of Lists" and find lists for banned books, bestseller lists, award lists, and even lists for specific multicultural genres. The web links are also categorized by user. There is a section for teachers, parents, and librarians.  I was surprised to find that some of the websites listed previously by other class members were linked on this site. The author, Brown, states on the introduction page that it is his hope that the people who use this site will be compelled to read books, rather than be content to read web sites like his. I was amazed at this site! I thought it looked boring at first and assumed it would take me only a few minutes to exhaust it. I was wrong. The links to children's literature resources are numerous. My favorite part of the site was the link to "Doucette Index". The Doucette Index allows the user to type in a book and/or author and receive lesson plans and teaching resources for that book. I used If You Give a Mouse a Cookie just to see if it would work. I retrieved nine activities for this book. I decided to see if it worked on newer Young Adult literature too. I used The First Part Last by Angela Johnson. I retrieved one hit from that book, but it was a detailed lesson on how to use it in the classroom along with discussion questions. This would be wonderful for school librarians and children's librarians who conduct storytimes! I used to have to search books and sites independently to do this! The site states that it only links to resources
