lovelyladyjKidsclick is an awesome kid-friendly search engine that allows students to find information they need for their academic research. When I was in elementary school I was very interested in astrology and the solar system so I decided to look up my favorite planet, Jupiter. Learning about planets would be around the 3-5th grades in science unit.

Natalia CamposI found this website to be awesome. Going back to the NETS-T standards it was what I had talked about, Promote and Model Citizenship and Responsibility. Technology is not a bad thing but it is something bigger than us and I believe providing students with safe resources is essential while teaching them to be safe on the internet.
-
marinaclark23I found under the natural disasters link a topic called natural disasters without warning for level 3 was a good topic to talk about because it is important for students to learn about natural disasters and what they can do to protect themselves. Once you pick a topic you are able to click on the link and it will bring you to information about the topic with pictures. This relates to NETS-S standards because you are using outside sources to find information and using these technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.

clae001So far this is my absolute favorite website! This site allows you to search just about any educational topic you need and directs you to a safe zone website! This can be extremely useful in the classroom for more than one reason. Giving students the opportunity to research topics on their own will build confidence and credit to ones self. These students can go to the website. Type in a topic like "Plants" and direct you to websites that are around their own grade level as well. Like given in the example above i searched plants myself. Because i'm interested in a younger age group i searched for a link that was age appropriate. It directed me to a page on Amazonia, a place that feeds off of agriculture and plants to maintain habitat. This would have been a great opportunity for a student in my classroom to tie in plants from all around the world with a focus on Amazonia.
NETS-S #1 engaging the student in real world issues! -

hoffm048This website supports the NETS-T standard 4. Teachers can use this website to find age appropriate material for their students and show their students where to find the same material. KidsClick! supports safe searching and digital responsibility so students do not accidentally look up something they should not. I would use this website to find literature for third grade. When I looked up literature, KidsClick! found a Children's Literature Web Guide with links to resources for teaching younger students literature.

veronicalarsenThis site is perfect tool for student research. The site is divided up by subject matter and categories: art, biographies, health, and so on. If a student clicks "biographies", they can choose from a variety of biographies about historical figures. Information and readings range from 3rd-7th grade reading levels. This way, teachers can assist students in finding the right resources for the best learning experience which challenges, interests, and teaches. I really love the "art" section. I feel like art history is lacking in education, but is important. This site allows students to choose their subject matter and choose their reading level. Students can personalize their learning.

eseniiagrigorevaCreated by a group of librarians, Kid's Click was seen as a better alternative to filtering software. Rather than screen out "bad" sites, the librarians wanted to provide kids with "good" sites. Kid's Click is a searchable directory divided into 15 categories. Every entry is rated for reading level and amount of illustration, which is *very* useful for determining use with ESL students with varying language ability.

eray91This is very applicable to teaching primary grades and providing an outlet for students to discover various topics. The native american link was under the Society and Government tab. This site provided a list of all the native american tribes in links where a student can click and read about whichever tribe he or she wants.
