POLICE intelligence agents have captured two wanted Abu Sayyaf leaders including one involved in the infamous kidnapping of a group of Westerners including American nationals Martin and Gracia Burnham in May 2001, Philippine National Police chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome announced yesterday.

The PNP chief identified the arrested terror ring leaders as Salip Abdula Magdal alias Anwar Muda/Salip Abdulla/Abduwa Salip and Sali Basal Taib alias Gongong Sali/Abu Husni.

He said Magdal was arrested during a raid yesterday in his hideout in Barangay Malamawi, Isabela City, Basilan. Bartolome described Magdal as a known follower of the late Abu Sayyaf leaders Commander Global and Commander Robot.

Salip Abdula Magdal is wanted for kidnapping with serious illegal detention and carries a P2 million prize on his head. He is said to be involved in the kidnapping of the Burnham couple and 18 others at the upscale Dos Palmas resort on Palawan island in May 2011. AD
