Chance the Rapper's Brother Taylor Bennett Came Out As Bisexual

Taylor Bennett, an artist and Chance the Rapper's brother, celebrated a birthday on Jan. 19 — and he used the milestone to come out as bisexual, opening up about a part of himself he's always felt "indifferent" about.

Taylor said he's using the coming year to be more open and honest with himself, and that means being honest with everyone else, too. In a series of tweets, Taylor said he wanted his fans to know that he's bisexual because it might help some of them feel more comfortable with themselves. His honesty, he said in his tweets, could help others who "struggle with the same issues" that he does.

"My birthday is tomorrow & moving into next year I'd like to be more open about myself to help others that struggle with the same issues," Taylor wrote. "Growing up I've always felt indifferent about my sexuality & being attracted 2 one sex & today I would like to openly come out to my fans. I do recognize myself as a bisexual male & do & have always openly supported the gay community & will keep doing so in 2017. #ThankYou."

Taylor coming out is important because bisexual people face a huge stigma, which includes people erasing the identity and not believing it's valid. The more people who talk about bisexuality openly and honestly, the more visible the identity becomes. With more visibility, it will become easier for others to come out and be honest about their own identities, which is exactly Taylor's goal.

Here's to a better-than-ever year for Taylor.
