Dwight A. Reed

Food insecurity is still a major issue for many families, but people like Dwight A. Reed are making an impact. As the presiding bishop of Christ Apostolic Temple in Des Moines, Iowa, Bishop Reed follows in the footsteps of his deceased father, Bishop Jeremiah Reed, through impactful community outreach by way of Christ Apostolic Temple Community Outreach Services.

Under his direction, CATCOS has served as a source of hope for people needing assistance, including a weekly food pantry, meal programs during the holiday season, and support to the homeless.

Key Community Food Initiatives

Bishop Dwight Reed has implemented food programs to combat hunger and support families in need.

  • To help combat food insecurity, CATCOS collaborates with Costco to offer weekly family food boxes. These distributions help families maintain regular access to food staples.
  • CATCOS also provides festive food baskets during the holiday season so that families can celebrate with the traditional holiday meal.
  • Also, CATCOS provides warm clothing to the homeless two times a month.

Bishop Reed, through CATCOS, continues to play an important role in addressing food insecurity and building a sense of community through these offerings.

Conclusion

Bishop Dwight A. Reed, through CATCOS, is making a tangible impact in Des Moines through their efforts to meaningfully support food distribution, holiday meal programs, and programming for the homeless.
