Prioritize Your Time Instead of Budgeting It

We tend to get meticulous with our schedules, planning out every minute of the day, but how often does that actually help us stay on task? Instead, try prioritizing your time.

Finance blog Debt Sucks suggests that your time is better prioritized than budgeted. If you have a bunch of stuff to do, reality is going to get in the way of keeping to a strict schedule of "two hours for this" and "forty-five minutes for that." Your best bet is to make a list of everything you want to accomplish and then prioritize that list. Tackle everything you can in the order it appears on the list, then repeat the process indefinitely.

While to some extent this feels obvious—to do the important things first—we often tend to let the little things get in the way. When you plan, just remember to consider each task's priority and use your time accordingly. When you accomplish what matters most, you'll feel far more accomplished in general.
