This book was just as good as Every Heart a Doorway, and yet managed to be completely different in tone and the method in which the story was toldBut also has all the unsettling atmosphere of its predecessor.In Some adventures require nothing more than a willing heart and the ability to trip over the cracks in the worldNo explicit scenes, thoughBut, you don't have to have read Every Heart a Doorway to enjoy this bookHowever, Every Heart a Doorway is an amazing book and I recommend warmly either reading it before this one or after.So, Down Among the Sticks and Bones tells the tale of how Jill and Jack traveled through a chest to another worldThey wanted to have a child just so they could show off at work, just to seem perfectThe prose was elegant without being pretentious (just like in the first book) and the wisdom packed into such a short book was staggering without being overwhelmingAlas, their minds were made up, and left no room for such revolutionary opinions.)Jacqueline becomes her mothers project, always dolled up in frilly princess dresses, while Jillian is encouraged by her father to be a rough-and-tumble tomboyIt doesn't disappoint
