The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated film which follows lead character, Emmet a completely ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is identified as the most "extraordinary person" and the key to saving the Lego universe. Emmet and his friends go on an epic journey to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business.
An ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.
This film surprised me. I was in the cinema, taking my sister to watch the Lego Movie(which I wanted to also watch.) and it was a great experience for me.(Even more so than for my 7-year-old sister.)
It was hilarious from the moment it started. It was my style of comedy. I had a genuine laugh at the film whilst being enthralled by the impressive awesomeness of the action scenes. The voice actors done a great job, didn't really have any complaints in that field.
As a child, I loved Lego and this was a blast as I seen the imagination the creators had used. They obviously had a lot of fun whilst making it.
The main problem I had with the film is that some action scenes did drag on for too long. they tried to make some scenes too flashy and were obviously aiming to introduce merchandising ideas. Another problem was that some things in it were too goofy. I understand that it is a children's film but they tried too hard.
Some themes may be discrete but they are a good touch and relevant from a child's perspective. This film was completely original in style, plot and humour.
It got me excited and I was left wanting more. it succeeded in making a fantastic family film.
Just watched The Lego Movie last night...wow...I haven't laughed this hard OUT LOUD at a movie in so long! As a Lego fan growing up, I was eager to see it after the great reviews, and it surely didn't disappoint. All the characters are alive and downright hilarious...from Batman to Green Lantern and Kitty and Abe Lincoln. I can't give away the plot, but it is clear the producers and directors also have an affinity with Legos. The underlying message comes across as fresh; a message everyone can relate to. I enjoyed the ending, although when it came I was exhausted from laughing and giggling for an hour and a half. This movie earns the high marks due to the attention to detail, the humor, and the funny story. A definite 10.
Lord and Miller do great work within constraints, taking pre-made pieces and fashioning them into feats worthy of applause. It's no wonder they made a Lego movie — and it's no wonder it's so good.
