Professional spies don't just get fired like regular people. Instead, they get "burned". And when you are burned, you're exposed and left with absolutely nothing to your name. No cash, no credit, no credit score, no job history, and you're stuck in whatever city the agency decides to leave you in. Michael Westen is one such spy. He was burned and decides to take his revenge on the people who burned him. But in order to do so, he decides he cannot do this alone, so he teams up with people from his past. His former partner Sam Axe, an ex-Navy SEAL who used to rat on him to the FBI and more than enjoys a good cocktail or two. And his on again, off again ex-girlfriend Fiona Glenanne, who enjoys explosives and firearms as much as fashion and yogurt. Together, they take on cases that help individuals throughout the city of Miami, while Michael puts together the pieces of the puzzle about the people that burned him. And they will need lots of yogurt and C4 in order to do so.
Michael Westen, a seasoned U.S. spy, is suddenly "burned", i.e. discredited, without any form of procedure. He survives by doing impossible jobs for desperate people in Miami, where his mother lives. Michael is usually aided by his ex-girlfriend Fiona and trusted former FBI informer Sam.
yes final a show that kicks butt why are there not any more shows like this sure 24 is a good show if you like it I am not a huge fan of 24 I watched the first season of it and having Bruce Campbell on the show is a plus humor is wonderful and enjoy the hot women the other networks should take notice of burn notice if you have not seen the show I suggest you check it out just watch it and you if you loved murder she wrote or Magnum PI check out please you have nothing to lose if you don't like it at least you try something new and not go oh I seen this before some where else I give the new show on USA network **********- 10
When I saw the ads for this, I dismissed it without watching because it looked like just another Miami Vice ripoff, and Miami Vice was stupid. My wife happened to have it on one night, and I watched while eating my dinner. The bank robbery-hostage episode was my first. I was pleasantly surprised, amused and craving more. It is serious to a degree. But there is an undercurrent of humor with Sam, Fiona and mom that add a nice twist to the whole spy genre. Narration adds an element of what the lead character is thinking, which in many cases is important because the viewer would have no idea what he's doing otherwise. Building his own contraptions adds to the fun, making the situations seem possible.
Spoiler: some of the tidbits Michael provides in his narration are not true. Example: Putting pressure on the jugular will not actually make your opponent pass out. A basic judo class will teach you pressure points that actually work, but that one was debunked as a myth by my sense.
It's also refreshing to see a petite woman cast in the role of a gun-loving explosives expert. She has her girly side, but Fiona is quite the tomboy, making her more fun and less drama. And mom's meddling/loving strength makes it all seem more human.
All in all, Burn Notice has become my favorite TV show. Hunting down all the DVDs...
Michael wears the Oliver Peoples Victory sunglasses. Oliver Peoples no longer makes the Victory frames, in the 55s (which is Michael's lens size) or the 58s. The lens color is the cognac, which is available via special order on just about all of the sunglasses OP has to offer.
Recently (Spring 2010), Oliver Peoples rereleased the 55s in the gold/cognac color combination. It is unknown how long the new run will last. In the pilot it's established that Fiona is Irish and as such she speaks with an Irish accent. In the second episode she greets Michael using an American accent. When he asks her about it she says she "can't go around Miami sounding like a freaking leprechaun". later it's determined that in order to hide from her numerous enemies, she took on an American accent.
