Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.
Jerry Shaw is an amiable slacker with an over-achieving twin brother. After his twin dies in an accident, strange things happen to Jerry at a dizzying pace: a fortune shows up in his bank account, weapons are delivered to his flat, and a voice on his cell phone tells him the police are on their way. Jerry follows the voice's instructions, and soon he and a woman he's never met are racing through the city, on to a plane, and eventually to the Pentagon, chased by the FBI. She is Rachel Holloman, a single mom; the voice has threatened her son's death if she doesn't cooperate. The voice seems to know everything. Who is behind it, what is being planned, and why Jerry and Rachel?
Eagle Eye is your typical Action film,borrowing heavily from other films |2001 Space Oddesyey,etc| Unforuatnley half the time,it all feels overblown. I also disliked how unrealistic it was. How on earth could they just run into each other like that,I mean how could the computers just trigger everything like that so easily? It really started to get on my nerves. The action itself wasn't all that special either. There is one standout scene I remember,is when Shia and Michelle jump out of the window,and the end's action scene involving a chase,otherwise it was pretty standard stuff. I don't expect all Action films to be original,or perfect,i'm not that picky,but this was just quite a stupid movie for the most part.
Performances. Shia LaBeouf is charismatic as per usual,but he can only do so much with the material. His chemistry with Michelle Monaghan is one to forget. They often looked awkward and out of place except for a couple of moments. Michelle Monaghan is certainly attractive,her acting chops are above average for the most part as well,but as I said for Shia she can only do so much with the material. Rosario Dawson does well with her thinly written part. Michael Chiklis is a fine character actor,he did well with what he had to do. Billy Bob Thornton is OK here. He's slumming it a bit,and I didn't care too much for his character.
Bottom Line. Eagle Eye is an OK time waster,I suppose. I didn't much care for it though,it's too stupid,too naive,and the actors deserved better.

What could have been an amazing blockbuster with an A-list star, was just a boring, ultra annoying "convenient" film filled with explosions and modern technology.
It seems as if the writers just said as a plot "Hey let's get Shia LaBeouf to be controlled by a mysterious voice" and just went with it. I thought with D.J Caruso directing, because 'Disturbia' was quite amazing that he once again could make a great film with Shia.
Basically, two strangers get calls threatening their lives if they don't follow the orders of the caller while the government tracks them down. Very convenient action and peril with no suspense, and no explanation that actually makes sense. This proves commercials/trailers are very deceiving. Honestly, I'm disappointed in Shia for deciding to do this.
A brain-squandering thriller.
Screenwriter Dan McDermott wrote the original script for Eagle Eye based on an idea by American director Steven Spielberg. When Spielberg was replaced as director by D.J. Caruso, McDermott's script was rewritten by screenwriters Eli Attie, John Glenn, Travis Wright, and Hillary Seitz. It is four time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore. This was confirmed by Rosario Dawson. Moore chose to be uncredited. Nope, not this time. Just your standard end credits. While Ariia's 73% unsaved memory was destroyed by Perez, her 27% saved is probably nowhere near as powerful and is therefore useless, wherever it may be. Other theories could be that the saved memory will return in a possible though improbable sequel, or that the memory was never actually saved and all of Ariia was destroyed at the same time, or the saved memory was found and destroyed. The most likely theory would be the latter since a sequel will probably never be in the works. There is an alternate ending that set up a sequel in which Sam was contacted by Ariia through his Xbox. However, that ending was not used, and therefore no other possible continuity is being set up for later on. a5c7b9f00b
