In the middle of the night, while waiting for a bus in a bus station, a lonely stranger called Mr. Smith sees a pregnant woman being chased by a man with a gun. He follows the couple, kills the man and helps the delivery of the baby in the middle of a shootout while a gang of hit-man tries to shoot them up. The woman is killed but Smith saves the baby, escaping from Hertz, the leader of the killers. Then he meets the prostitute Donna Quintano, who has just lost her baby, and asks her to breastfeed the newborn. They are chased by Hertz and Smith discovers the reason why the bad guy wants to kill the baby.
A man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.
Luckily I didn't paid to watch this unrealistic trash. I think Clive Owen are not that bad actor, he must just stop signing up to be part of movies like this peace of trash.
Everyone knows Clive Owen were in line to be the next James Bond. He didn't get the part. then someone decided lets make a movie called shoot them up. (after the big hype of Clive almost getting the part of James bond some people will be fooled with the idea of this movie and financed this. it worked they got their finance and fans.)
Rules for this movie
This movie must be more unrealistic than any bond movie ever made. The dialogue must be worst. The love interest of smith/bond must be beautiful and like any Bond movie she can t stand smith/bond, but his charm gets the best of her and she falls in love.
Smith /Bond must be a real terror to every villain. He hates everything like bad drivers, men with ponytails Bonds martini and Walter ppk are replaced by carrots (he kills people with his carrots) To ad some sentiment to this movie a baby are added.
This move could have been much better if it were a spoof of 007 movies, but the people responsible for this travesty did it to cash in. They know there are people who will love this kind of inept movie even if it leaves 80 % of the people watching it in a cinema very angry. if you have seen some bond films you don't have to watch this movie.
Clive Owen really is every man's action hero for the Naughties. Men want to be him and women want to sleep with him. Lately If Clive Owen touches something it turns into something rather special. Look at Closer and Children of Men - Both very clever movies with very clever casting and very clever directing. Shoot em Up is the same - cast by Diedre Bowen - this clever little casting agent gets Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti (Sideways) and Monica Belluci (every Italian Boys wet dream as well as the rest of the global male population) on board. With this sort of casting - I'm excited that Diedre Bowen will be doing the casting to the upcoming feature film of Max Payne. Michael Davis the director someone you wouldn't normally trust to pull off a good movie - his debut was back in 1994 - the very bad Double Dragon movie (I had such high hopes at the time!) However, Davis has finally emerged from the abyss and has pulled off something very special here. Yeah it's a lot of shooting (hence the title) but what you get is far better than what you expect. It's fast paced with some highly original gun fights - each shoot out is memorable (ridiculous yes - but memorable). For a fast paced comic book violent movie you can't go wrong than spend 90mins watching Shoot Em Up!
It's all meant as gory good fun, but once the novelty wears off half an hour in, the rest of the film is only meant for people who absolutely agree with Giamatti's character about that violence thing.
