A young farmer sets out to recruit mercenaries to defend his peaceful planet, which is under threat of invasion by the evil tyrant Sador and his armada of aggressors.
Shad, a young farmer, assembles a band of diverse mercenaries in outer space to defend his peaceful planet from the evil tyrant Sador and his armada of aggressors. Among the mercenaries are Space Cowboy, a spacegoing truck driver from Earth; Gelt, a wealthy but experienced assassin looking for a place to hide; and Saint-Exmin, a Valkyrie warrior looking to prove herself in battle.
There was a time, long ago, when conventions were exclusively run by the fans, for the fans. In this time, there were movies and TV episodes into the wee hours. And there were certain things that were cult favorites, such as Bambi Meets Godzilla, Hardware Wars, and of course, Battle Beyond the Stars.
When the Evil Overlord Sador and his hideous mutant army threaten the peaceful planet of Akira, it is up to Shad to go in search of mercenaries to defend the planet. And what a group he gathers. Cowboy - an interplanetary trucker with a cargo hold of laser pistols, Gelt - a notorious outlaw with a price on his head, Cayman of the Lambda Zone - last of a reptilean race destroyed by Sador. Together with amazonian Saint-Exmin, a pair of Kelvins (who communicate by heat), love interest and/or computer whiz Nanelia and the mysterious collective known as the Nestor, a defense of the planet Akira is planned.
I can't claim there are spoilers in my review because after 10 seconds of watching this film, you know you're in for a rough and spoiled ride. Are all the reviewers here on crack?? Better than Star Wars?? This makes "Plan 9 From Outer Space" look professional - it's bad acting, make-up, sets, dialog.... Space Marines (a truly terrible film) is so much better. John Boy Walton, who still acts like that's where he is, a huge Valkyrie warrioress who is there for titillation (and not acting), extras from Strange Encounters all add to make a sad melange of awfulness. Who made the models - a blind man from Blake 7 who was rejected because he had no concept of reality? Words fail me. Get a life people - I mean a real one
