The fifth season of The Amazing Race saw 11 teams race for $1,000,000 around the globe to 'amazing' locations including Uruguay, Argentina, Russia, Egypt, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates, India, New Zealand, the Philippines and Canada. The teams included identical blonde twins, bowling moms, dating models, a former Miss Teen USA, pizzeria owners, a former Big Brother star, and a dwarf. However only the fastest were able to make it all the way and win the cash prize, and after 29 days of competitiveness, stress and excitement, it was African-American couple Chip and Kim. One new twist introduced was the "yield," which a team could use once at any time to slow down someone behind them. The "yield" was only used once, by Chip and Kim to slow down Colin and Christine whilst in the Philippines.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 'The Amazing Race' is the best reality show on television. I've watched every season since it premiered and have loved all of them, but I was disappointed with the fourth edition for a number of reasons.
The one thing that I felt this edition was missing, not to mention the most important element, was an interesting group of teams. There are usually those teams that I love and want to win so badly, however, there weren't any this year that I really enjoyed watching. The teams, I felt, were duplicates of past ones (need I mention the Cindy and Russell coincidence?). I hate to say it because the producers are usually good at choosing contestants, but this year, there were some people who I still didn't know their name by the end of the season. That is not good. Another problem with this season was that the challenges were dull. There were some interesting ones over the course of the show, but for the most part, they were bland. I will point out that I was a little taken by surprise with some of the road blocks/detours simply because they were on the dangerous side.
Things I liked about this season? Well, the wonderful crew, of course. The camera crew, editors, sound people, and everyone else really did do a good job with putting the show together. I am always impressed with the editors especially because they really have a tough job, but they never seem to fail me.
If there was one good thing to come out of 'The Amazing Race 4', it was that my favorite team (one of two teams that I could actually stand to watch) made it not only into the top three, but won the million dollars. My other favorite team came in third. It was a bummer, though, that the finale was terrible.
While this season was by far the worst of the four, it did have some strong points along the way. I was thrilled that the show was nominated for an Emmy and then actually won, and I was even happier to find out that CBS gave the go-ahead to a fifth season. Maybe CBS does like Bruckheimer.
oh this was surely the best season of the amazing race. my favorite team was Brandon and Nicole (mostly because Brandon was soooo cute...) and chip and Kim were so sweet. They deserved to win! i reckon in this season there was a variety of different team backgrounds and their morals. Being a Christian myself, it rocked to see that Brandon and Nicole were faithful to the end. this was the first season i watched (but not from the beginning) and it set high standards for me. The next seasons weren't as interesting, and fun to watch. I loved seeing the places they went to and the challenges they had to overcome. my only thing was...when are they gonna come to Australia! In the new season they do, but where? Does anyone know?
Teams cannot check in to the pit stop without all of their travel documents. If they arrive at the pit stop without them, they must go back and retrieve them before they can be officially checked in. In Season 15, Zev and Justin were eliminated because they arrived at the pit stop without a passport and were unable to find it in time.
However if a team loses their passport during a non elimination round, but the following leg does not require them to use their passport to leave the country, they may proceed but must locate and produce their passport on the next leg as seen in Season 21, episode 8. Teams actually purchase four tickets when they travel: two for them, one for the camera man, and one for the sound man, but each team also tapes a shot asking for two tickets to avoid breaking the fourth wall.
