A prequel to the Assassin's Creed Franchise set in Egypt from 48 BC where Bayek, a Medjay, begins the foundation of the Assassin's Brotherhood.
This game revolves around a protagonist Bayek of Siwa who seeks revenge for his sons death.He wishes that murdering the killer will bring his son's souls to peace.While the act of uncovering the plot Bayek takes assistance of some great historical figures like Caesar , Cleopatra and helping them to attain the throne with the help of his wife Aya.Between these includes an heavy act of drama,sympathy and heroism.And finally gets what they fought for and with the beginning of Assassins Creed Brotherhood from where other series of this franchise Begins.
While i appreciate the change in formula for assasins creed and i love the new witcher style of gameplay the story is criminally boring which feels impossible given the amazing setting which is practically bursting at the seams with historical locations such as alexanders tomb which are a joy and privilege to explore. My main issue however is not In the gameplay itself it is with the story which rewards your hours of gameplay and levelling up with bayek... By forcing you to play as aya. It feels like a slap in the face to the hours you've put into the game and it forces you to play as aya at the most important point. the ending where you take part in and witness the assassination of julius caesar but prefacing this is possibly the hardest boss in the game which you have to beat with ayas shocking weapons and skills.the worst thing about this is the fact that after this it completely abandons bayek and makes aya the main character in the story leaving bayek unremembered to history leaving your hours of gameplay utterly POINTLESS!!
Four years in development. Two year break. 1 Phenomenal result.
This game has been rumoured, hyped, and long awaited by many fans, both old and new alike. A lot of customer feedback and fan surveys brought us here. The game itself was excellent, with much to enjoy, explore, and be immersed by. Hours upon hours worth of content, with loads of side quests and mini stories. The soundtrack a brilliant comeback after a dusty attempt from Syndicate. From first glance, it's near perfect, and it deserves to be called a gem, ranked next to Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
That being said, the game is not perfect, or at least the narrative isn't, and it lacked so much as it dove near the end of the story. Due to the RPG element, the story wasn't as constructed as before. It didn't feel directed and hence felt messy, sloppy, and frankly, all over the place... as if random pieces just fell upon each other. Ex- machina perhaps? But what bothered me mostly was that it missed many opportunities to act upon. It lacked a clear direction, and it certainly missed its Que to nod to its fans in several occasions.
Despite the game being called Assassin's Creed Origins, though revealing the assumed origin, the story does not dive into the creed itself, only grazes it. The three legendary tenants haven't been mentioned or spoken of. The dedication of the ring finger cut based on an accident. The word assassin or assassinate hasn't been spoken once throughout the game. The Modern day segment felt lazy and rushed, its ending incomplete. First civilization, no mention of Juno or Desmond's Sage Son, at all. Then there's Bayek's lack of questioning within the ancient vaults is baffling, or did he not hear those 6 recorded messages? Speaking of which, Layla also ignore this? A little reaction from either of the two would've been nice. Finally, quests were unclear whether they were before or after particular moments in the main story.
It's just at the end, I didn't feel rewarded, instead it felt merely empty and confusing. So much needed to be explained, mentioned, and foretold, yet it lacked such references and/or elaboration of detail.
Putting all that aside, it was a gorgeous world, impressive acting, and some worthy scenes.
