Jason Voorhees returns with a new look, a new machete, and his same murderous attitude as he is awakened on a spaceship in the 25th century. Finally captured in the year 2008, Jason Voorhees (Lexa Doig), leader of the research project, prepares the specimen for cryogenic suspension, a greedy scientist goes over her head and comes to remove Jason, only to have the mad slasher break free and slaughter him and his entire entourage. Tricking Jason into following her, Rowan eludes him into entering the cryogenic freezer and begins the process, but a breach in the system causes her to freeze with him. The government tries to deny any evidence of the project, and nearly four centuries pass, during which the Earth gradually becomes less and less habitable and humans have relocated to a planet in another star system that they've named Earth II. A team of young students descends onto the ruined Earth, where they find the frozen bodies of Jason and Rowan in the forgotten research facility and take back on board their ship with them. Rowan is thawed and revived, but the team mistakes Jason to be dead, having no idea of his abilities or motives. Before long, Jason awakens to the sound of young people having premarital sex once again, and the carnage erupts once again as the ship proceeds to Earth II. The remaining survivors fight for their lives as the centuries-old mad slasher proves that he is just as evil and just as indestructible during their time as he was centuries before. After JASON Goes to Hell, which many people dislike,I didn't.Fans were craven for a FREDDY v.s. JASON.While the studio was working on that, someone wanted to make another JASON movie, but not following the same story as the last one.So many ideas were up,including the one that was going to be made JASON in L.A,which JASON will be up against gangbanggers. So then somebody came up with JASON in space.JASON X was born.

You can tell this takes place somewhere after the battle between FREDDY and JASON,because you can see claw marks on JASON's mask.Jason is frozen because they can't find a way to kill he,but before a murder spree happens JASON is frozen, then unthawed in the year 2455.That means trouble, trooouble.

I like that they did something really new to the series and made it had a space like 80's feel to the original Friday the 13th.The death scenes were great and invented to give JASON more space than that campground. And that short new look at what JASON is going to look like is brilliant.Kane Hodder is JASON and forever will be.So a great installment to the series.Really it is. After multiple attempts to kill him, the decision is taken to cryogenically freeze the mass murderer Jason Voorhees to contain him for all time. However the advice of Dr Rowan is ignored and the military decide that he is too valuable for science to lose. Of course it all goes wrong and it is only the sacrifice of Rowan that gets Jason frozen again. Jump forward a few hundred years and a student expedition uncovers the frozen bodies of the Jason and Rowan. They revive Rowan but start to cut up Jason as all scans show him to be dead; of course Rowan is brought back to life too late to warn the others and before you can say "sexy teenagers in peril", Jason Voorhees is back to his old tricks on board the spaceship as it heads towards Earth II.

Although I have yet to find any real value in the Friday 13th series, I decided that I'd give this a try since it had had many positive reviews. I quickly realised that this film was just going to push all the usual buttons but do it slightly differently by essentially crossing the series with the alien series (not really of course, but I couldn't shake the feeling that this was the closest it could have got). Looking back I can only assume the kind reviewers were a reflection that at least this film wasn't as bad as some of its predecessors rather than being reviewed by critics on its own merits. Despite being set in deep space, the film still manages to pull together a cast of nubile young actresses alongside some other genre clichés before setting out to pick them off one at a time in a series of rather nasty but yet unimaginative set pieces. In fairness it is distracting and fans of the series will probably enjoy it but personally I just felt like I was plodding wearily through overly familiar ground and the fact that it crossed over into a different genre didn't change that.

The gore is reasonably good I suppose (I'm not really a horror fan) and those who like this sort of thing will probably not be bothered by the fact that the scares are obvious and don't really have a consistent or significant tension to them. The cast are all very pretty and buy into the material pretty well. Doig makes an unconvincing scientist but is sexy and gorgeous enough to fill the main requirements of the script. Hodder does his usual slow plodding stuff without having the opportunity or ability to add to it. The rest of the cast are a collection of soldier clichés, sexy young things, geeky guys and other genre staples. None of them do anything special or interesting but in fairness none of these films have ever been about the cast as performers – just about them as eye candy and fodder.

Overall this is better than the general standard of the Friday 13th films if only by crossing over into another genre to provide the same old same old with at least a fresh appearance. It is of course nothing of the sort and just repackages the same old stuff as usual. Better than the usual slasher fare but just don't expect it to be good. It gets much more watchable in the last half-hour. After Freddy vs Jason. In that film Jason is ressurected by supernatural serial killer Freddy Kruger after being sent to hell at the end of Jason Goes to Hell and eventually defeats him and emerges triumphant from Crystal Lake. He is then captured by unknown parties and is being held by the military at the beginning of this film. Unknown, it may have been the military themselves although other suggestions have included Tommy Jarvis (from the fourth, fifth and sixth films) or Jason's niece and her boyfriend from Jason Goes to Hell. He is holding only the back of her head and dunking her face in, and presumably thought the nitrogen was just water in which he could drown her. Brodski used the jet pack on his spacesuit to escape and fly around to the side. Very possibly, but odds are this question will never be answered properly, given that we didn't see Jason's final state in this movie (i.e. whether he was disintegrated completely on re-entering Earth II's atmosphere, leaving only his mask, or whether he survived and the mask was simply separated from his head), and the remake means that there will likely be no future film to fill in the gaps. The script has someone pulling Jason's mask out of the water at the end (though doesn't specify if it is Jason), and comic books show that Jason did survive the end of this movie; whether or not you count them as being a proper part of the Friday the 13th storyline boils largely down to personal taste. In terms of the movies however, this is the last one in the original storyline so yes, he is dead. So far, there are 12 movies in the Friday the 13th series. Beginning with
Friday the 13th (1980) (1980), following are Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) (1981), Friday the 13th Part III (1982) (1982), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) (1984), Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985) (1985), Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) (1986), Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) (1988), Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) (1989), Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) (1993), Jason X (2001) (2001), Freddy vs. Jason (2003) (2003), and Friday the 13th (2009) (2009). A fan film, The Cold Heart of Crystal Lake (2003), was also released in 2003. A documentary about Jason, His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2009), was released February 10th 2009. a5c7b9f00b
