U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is a modern day nineteenth century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals, and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism, a tough, soft-spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, who knows a lot more about who he doesn't want to be than who he really is. Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal mining towns in eastern Kentucky. I just finished the whole series and I enjoyed every single one of the episodes from all seasons. This is an underrated series that deserves much more people to know about it. I'm normally not a big fan of Kentucky accent but in this show it's just great. The conversations between the actors are also excellent. I just love the way they talk in Justified. The actors are all top notch, can't really fail anybody on this show. Walton Goggins (as Boyd Crowder) and Timothy Olyphant (as Raylan Givens)are definitely the two actors that carry this series to a higher level. Their eternal battle against each other is a pleasure for the eye and ear. The story is well written, you never get bored for a second. I certainly will watch Justified again in the future. One of the best written, directed, and acted TV shows I have ever watched. For that matter, it is more enjoyable than 99% of films that I have watched. I didn't even know anyone in Hollywood could still write like this, and with the cast to deliver the punch-perfect lines, the show never slows down. It is simply mesmerizing non-stop action, episode after episode. Especially Season 2 is a marvel to behold, partially due to the dead-on contribution by Margo Martidale (loved her in Tricky Pete, too). And even though we know that Boyd Crowder (Goggins is amazing) will never be done in , it always seems like he's on the very verge of extinction. Those two and Olyphant make the show, but the supporting actors are superbly cast, and must have enjoyed playing their characters - even the Eastern Kentucky caricatures Devil and Dewey Crow who just make the show more fun. Now that the show can be watched online, beware that you will be addicted and be going to bed too late watching one episode after another. It is based on Elmore Leonard's short story "Fire in the Hole" as stated before each episode in opening credits. Season 1
