Bishop thought he had put his murderous past behind him, until his most formidable foe kidnaps the love of his life. Now he is forced to complete three impossible assassinations, and do what he does best: make them look like accidents. Arthur Bishop, the master assassin who faked his death in hopes of putting that part of his ;life behind him, now lives a quiet life in Rio. But someone who knows who he is shows up and tells him, that if he wants to continue living this life, he will do three jobs for someone. Bishop tries to tell them he has the wrong man but they know who he is and if he won't do the job, they will take him but he gets away. He then goes to a resort in Thailand run by a friend, Mae, where he tries to find out who is looking for him. Later a woman named Gina shows up looking for medical assistance and Mae can't help but notice bruises all over her body. Mae deduces she's a battered woman and when Mae hears her being beaten, Mae asks Bishop to help her. He goes and kills the guy she's with. He kills the man and then sets fire to the boat he's on. But he sees that Gina has a photo of him. He deduces that they one who wants him, sent her. He confronts her and she admits that she works at a children's shelter in Cambodia and that someone told her if she didn't do what he said, the children would be endanger. While waiting for the man to come, they get close. And when the man's people comes, they grab them. Bishop is brought to the man who wants him to do the jobs and he tells Bishop that if he doesn't do it, Gina will be killed. So Bishop has no choice but to do it. "Mechanic: Resurrection" is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2011 Jason Statham classic...OK, let me just say, the 2011 remake to the 1972 film "The Mechanic" was a decent flick thanks to Simon West's understanding of the action genre, BUT did I think it was worthy of a sequel, let alone one five years later? Absolutely not, but alas, here we are, now to be honest I was actually interested in seeing this film, the trailers made it out to be a fast paced, dumb, straightforward action movie with a classic Tommy Lee Jones villain portrayal, well, I'm here today to tell you that trailer was BULLSHIT, not only is the film boring but the best part of the movie (Tommy Lee Jones) plays such a small, unimportant role in the film, he's just an excuse to prolong such an unenjoyable crap fest, Jessica Alba's only purpose in the film is to be a damsel in distress and get beaten up, its direction and editing is choppy, and the visuals are atrocious, it's an embarrassing film to be rewarded a wide, theatrical release. Jason Statham has a monopoly on the action movie market because he seems to be in every single one of them and seems to play the same character every time. The film is not really a sequel to the mechanic remake in which he also played so there is no need to having seen that one - it works stand alone. Mechanic Resurrection is as about cliché as action movies get: a bad guy kidnaps Statham's girlfriend so he has to do some assassinations in interesting ways on far away locations. The plot is full of holes (you really have to stop thinking if things in this movie would work or be possible in real life or you'll get really annoyed by this flick) and the dialogue is cookie cutter stuff. The film was made on a shoestring budget and shot mostly in Bulgaria with the 1134 VFX shots also done by a Bulgarian company...and you can tell coz when for example a boat blows up they just composited the explosion and flames onto it, the boat doesn't move an inch and there is no debris flying around. A lot of scenes where shot on a blue-screen stage and you can easily tell which ones coz they have this overly bright 'studio lighting' look. The fight scenes are descent but like I said nothing you haven't seen before in another Statham film. So conclusion: you won't see anything you haven't seen before here and the film is mediocre at best. You won't be bored but this is definitely NOT a must see by any stretch of the imagination. In “Mechanic,” [Statham's] a mechanic of murder, of escape, of ingenuity, of combat. He’s too good (and too badass) to be true, but that’s why we like him. It would be nice to see Statham make a movie one day that’s accomplished enough to raise his game. Until that happens, Mechanic: Resurrection will do. a5c7b9f00b
