In the pandemic thriller, Patient Zero, humanity is battling intelligent, adrenaline-fueled creatures born from a viral super-strain. After being bitten, human survivor Morgan (Matt Smith) realizes he is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leading the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.
Besides the somewhat low budget special effects. It was actually a really good film with an amazing plot.
I'm a huge fan of 28 Days Later type of infected movies. The idea just terrifies me more than slow zombies. I went into this movie completely blind--I never watched a trailer or knew who was in it.
In any case, this movie was just below average IMO. The only actor I recognized was Stanley Tucci, which happens to be one of my favorite actors and was a nice surprise. To be honest, his role is small but he was by far the best actor in the movie. The other characters were annoying--especially the lead male and the soldier. Oh and Jon Snows best buddy was in this too! He was cool--for like the first 5 minutes.
The premise of the movie was interesting. One normal person had the ability to communicate with the infected. Quite different. It was the execution that just felt really flawed. There were so many plot holes and the story itself just didn't make sense. There wasn't much action until the very end and even that just came off as ridiculous.
Not a horrible movie but nowhere near what it could've been. If this had a more fleshed out story, a different director, and some different actors in key roles this could've been awesome! I wish the people at HBO would make it's next series about infected after GoT ends--that would be amazing!
