This action movie unfolds with the story of Bei, a salesman at a workout equipment store, who harbors dreams of adventures. It all starts when on one normal dull day, Bei follows his instincts to trail two suspicious looking men into an alley. When he realizes that these men are robbing a jewelry store, he jumps into action to foil their plans. Soon after Bei meets Liu, a private investigator who convinces Bei that he may be the long-lost son of a rich Korean businessman. In no time, Bei is on his way to fulfill his dreams of adventure and fortune traveling to Korea and even exotic Turkey. As Bei is drawn deeper into the game of cat and mouse, he realizes he has become the key to locating a new, highly addictive narcotic. With an assortment of characters fighting him along the way, will Bei succeed in finding the drug himself?
At a Hong Kong shopping center, Jackie Chan's intuition warns him. He saves a robbery's loot and gets on TV, ends up in Istanbul via South Korea and accidentally becomes a spy. Fortunately, he knows Kong Fu.
If you love action-thriller movies, this one is for you. Jacky Chan was very impressive on this one. And the stunts were unbelievable. As suggested by previous reviewers, this one is better than Tuxedo. Definitely better. Grab it and you'll have an entertaining evening.
In this masterpiece Jackie Chan plays Buck Yuen, a 42 year-old orphan who gets the chance to find his real parents and starts an adventitious journey that brings him from Hong Kong to Korea and finally to Turkey where he is chased by different groups of people without knowing that he now has something that they want... I can't tell more about the plot here or I would spoil too much of the storyline. This JC movie is different from his past movies: there is an interesting and complex story to tell, the movie is darker (and not based on comedy only) and Jackie Chan shows us that he's a great actor! Maybe some of this fans might be disappointed that there are only a few short fighting scenes but I think the story and his acting let's forget this shortage easily. I watched the HK-version, I hope the US distributors won't do any cuts to this movie because that might destroy the storyline and make it inconsequent(like they did with JC's "First Strike" some years ago).
All in all it's a great "thriller" that shows action star Jackie Chan as an ACTOR instead of only an action-hero. A must see!
The International Version of this Jackie Chan movie is severely shorter than the Hong Kong Version. This International Version is one of several released versions that can be fairly called artistic failures, because of poor choice of cuts and sometimes very rough ones, even in good scenes. More than that, dialog is often distorted, and sometimes it is overshadowed by simultaneous sounds that are wrong for the moment.
