The Queen of England calls a meeting between Hellsing and Iscariot. As they discuss what to do about the Millennium threat, they are interrupted by a message from the Major, who declares his intention to go to war with England. Also, the Eagle, a British aircraft carrier, is captured by Rip Van Winkle and her Millennium squadron, and Alucard is sent to wipe them out.
In flashback, Integra is seen assuming leadership of the Hellsing organization as she resolves a conflict with her uncle with the help of the vampire Alucard. In present day, Alucard goes on a mission to the town of Cheddar to silence a vampiric priest who has been killing townspeople, and in the process must also present the young police girl Seras Victoria with the choice to either die or become a vampire. Also, Alucard battles a Vatican priest named Alexander Anderson after they are both sent to kill the same vampire in Northern Ireland.
Violence, blood, gore, vampires, Nazis, bayonets, the Vatican, Hellsing is back, and better than ever. Forget the original series, the one that shamelessly disregarded the brilliant manga. This is that way Hellsing is supposed to be! There are many contributing factors as to why this is so much better than its predecessor. For a start, the animation is amazing. Truly incredible; it has to be seen to be believed. And the music suits the epic madness of the manga perfectly.
The style and direction is fantastic as well, bringing a wild mood the original lacked.
However, it is not without flaws. A truly dreadful dream sequence and its aftermath almost spoils the piece, and you will be left wondering why the hell it was even present.
But ignore that cringe worthy five minutes, and you will have a truly satisfactory Hellsing experience, something you could never get from the original.
Im 27 years old and don't really watch much anime these days and decided to catch up. So I brought Hellsing.
There is nothing more you could ever want out of an anime in this genre, The art is excellent, the humor is hilarious, the sound fits perfect, the story? wow. When the catholic Vatican's special forces meet with the Nazi zombies while fighting crazy vampires your mind will blow.
There is no filler episodes in this series at all and it will glue you to the screen, the action sequences are flawless and you would struggle to think of more creative villains/heroes to add to a plot, each character seems unique and makes you always wonder what could possibly come next! let Alucard show you what a real vampire does.
The OVAs from part 6 onwards were also released on Blu-Ray. In October 2010, a Japanese box-set was released which also includes the OVAs 1 through 5 in 1080p. What makes this box interesting are the completely revised "Recut" versions of part 1 through 4. They really worked hard and with a lot of sensitivity in order to make the quality of the animations of the first episodes just as good as the quality of the later ones. The color as well as the image brilliance was noticeably improved. Backgrounds, landscapes, eyes and glasses have much more detail, light, and reflection. Also, a few mistakes of the facial movements were undone (especially those of Alucard in OVA 1 and 3 but also those of Luke Valentine in OVA 2).
