Four hundred years after the extinction of the human race, a small group of humans is revived by an alien civilization. The aliens claim they want to restore the human species, but the reborn humans uncover new dangers, hidden agendas and powerful secrets that challenge that claim and threaten to annihilate the human race all over again. This was a fun sci-fi series and we are looking forward to season 2. It had some good suspence and a nice balance so that it was entertaining without being too violent, nor too intense, nor too slow. We really liked the way that it keeps you guessing and how you get to try to figure things out a little at a time along with the characters. Extinct is a mediocre sci-fi drama that draws heavily on sci-fi tropes. Alien invasion (War of the Worlds), check. Flying robots, (Disney's te Black Hole) check. Ancient artifact with gylphs (2001, Stargate, etc...), check. Alien parasites in the neck (Puppet Masters, Body Snatcher etc...), check. Wild child wandering about all the aliens, check (think Newt in Aliens). Wilderness in a post-apocalyptic world, (Book of Eli, The Earth Abides, Mad Max etc...), check. Bow and arrow warrior, (Hunger Games) check. All these come together in a drama without much action, suspense, or surprise. Sort of reminds me of someone who took Heinlein, Clark, Anderson, and Bradbury and tried to copy the best of the classics and blend it into an unoriginal TV series. a5c7b9f00b
