U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is a modern day nineteenth century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals, and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism, a tough, soft-spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, who knows a lot more about who he doesn't want to be than who he really is. Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal mining towns in eastern Kentucky. Both my husband and I really enjoyed "Justified" we just happened on it by chance. The characters are really good and the underlying humour is fantastic. It reminds us of old Clint Eastwood cowboy movies Good man sorting out the baddies but not a saint. Loved the transporting of the prisoner in the 2nd episode! Not so keen on his hangdog relationship with ex wife but as that is only a tiny part so far can get over it. We like his colleagues the laid back way they go about their jobs, "do you want me to wing him or kill him?" This is how TV shows should be, entertaining, this one is marked on the Calendar so as not to miss it. I have not come across Timothy Olyphant before and if this is typical of his talent I will look out for him. In a time where shows like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy rule the TV world in regards to popularity, one show that get's over-looked is Justified. It's a shame because it's not only better then the three shows formerly mentioned, it's the best show on TV. No show on TV can match the brilliance of Justified's formula. The best story, the best ensemble cast lead by the best actor in the business, Timothy Olyphant. Most TV shows on television right now have one of two things... a good story with not so good characters or good characters in a not so good story. Justified is one of the few shows on TV that has both. From Raylan & Boyd to Arlo & Art to Rachel & Tim... every character is interesting and every character elevates this story just that much more There isn't a dull character in this world and there hasn't been a dull storyline yet. This world of Harlan, Kentucky is always getting more complicated and it's all brilliant. The perfect mixture of comedy, action and drama Justified, in only three seasons, has managed to reinvent not only it's genre but successful storytelling as a whole. It is based on Elmore Leonard's short story "Fire in the Hole" as stated before each episode in opening credits. Season 1
