Actor and fight director Peter Woodward explores various forms of competition throughout the ages, reenacting historic fights with the help of a stunt team. Episodes have focused on topics ranging from gladiator matches to 17th-century dueling to modern air combat. I've always loved learning about weapons and history and I could not help but be intrigued by this show. Most other history shows give a glimpse of a weapon's use and historical significance in a brief thirty second blip. Conquest sometimes uses an entire episode dedicated to a single weapon like the episode on the Axe for example. Conquest also employs it's cast to study the subject and then compete against each other in competitions ranging from an Indian obstacle course to gladiatorial combat (with padded weapons of course)This show is perfect for anyone who loves history or ever wanted to see how to properly cut another man in half with a great Axe. My only real complaint is that Conquest should have been an hour long instead of a scant thirty minutes. I hope the history channel will offer this on DVD soon. It is a great Series and should be available. If they don't they are missing out on a big sale item. My family and friends all enjoyed this show while it was on and we always got together to watch it. We especially enjoyed the Pirate episode. He was the perfect host. We just always found the extras to be rather clueless lot. I mean when he had the show on ninjas and one of the "students" said "I thought that was a motorcycle." You could se the distaste on his face at having to say that line. We roared at that. It was both fun and educational. We really miss this show. If They won't bring it back they should at least offer it for purchase. a5c7b9f00b
