Six children genetically cross-bred with avian DNA, complete with wings, take flight around the country to discover their origins.
There are 6 children that aren't your average kids. Their names are Max (14 years old), Fang (14), Iggy (14), Nudge (11), Gazzy (8), and Angel (6). They're special hybrid humans; they had 2% avian DNA infused to their human DNA. They escaped from a lab they call "The School" with the help of their caretaker (Jeb Batchleder), and they've been living in the mountains since, even after Jeb dies. But when the half-lupine guards from The School, Erasers, have taken Angel, they go on a exhilarating journey to get her back. Along the way, their mysterious past is being revealed, as well as some stunning secrets.
You're left with questions which might lead to a sequel, but it's not bad. Some of the acting is questionable, but most of the main characters do a decent job, especially for kids.
The story line isn't that uncommon, thematically, but there are some good twists and character building moments which a lot of movies lack. I haven't read the book, so I don't know how well it was represented, but It was a decently presented story. It could have been developed, I probably would have expanded on it a bit, but I was entertained by it.
It's a bit Hollywood-esque, not as realistic as I would like, but I think with a better budget it could have been nicely developed: both graphically and story-wise. I'd like to see what this director could do with more support.
This movie is...bad. I didn't know they were making this into a movie and when I found out I was so excited. The opening scene was okay, but it was downhill from there. The acting was mediocre, and the CGI/Effects were just plain awful. You could tell this was low budget, they need to remake this movie with a bigger budget and better actors < ones the right ages. For someone who has all the books and loved them, this is just sad. Now I just wanna reread the books again to get this terrible movie out of my head. And for those who haven't read the books, I hope you do, and remember that they are NOTHING like this wannabe action movie.
