A young man receives a call on his cellular phone from a woman who says she's been kidnapped, and thinks she's going to be killed soon, along with her husband and son who the kidnappers have gone after next. The catch? She doesn't know where she is... and his cell phone battery might go dead soon.
A woman is kidnapped out of her house and brought somewhere and locked in a room. Now there's a phone in the room but before she could use it, her captor smashes it. She then tinkers with it and manages to get a dial tone but is unable to dial. She then crosses wires and contacts a young surfer. When she tells him that she has been kidnapped; he doesn't believe her and/or care but he goes to the police to report the crime. When he gets to the station he gets the run around. While waiting he hears the woman's conversation with her captor and learns that her family's in danger so he tries to help them but in the process of doing that he commits some acts that make the police think he's a criminal or crazy; like stealing a car and brandishing a gun in public.
This flick is just plain non-stop action fun. Don't expect any deep story line or character development, just sit back and expect to be blown away by everything the poor guy goes through, and all because he answered his phone. I loved it just for the plain FUN of it! A self-centered, self-involved spoiled surfer dude tries to stay on the good side of an ex-girlfriend by running a errand for her to the Home Depot. On the way his cel phone rings. He answers it, and against his own initially self-centered wishes, gets caught up in three -- count 'em, three, rescue missions: one for a child, one for a video camera, and one for a kidnapped woman (the initial caller). And all he really wanted to do was impress his ex-girlfriend by volunteering for Heal the Day... "Yeah, Heal the Bay. That's what I said." I highly recommend this movie for anyone looking for the simple exscapism of it. Yeah, exscapism. That's what I said... and gimme your phone, or I'll shoot your car...
i saw this film last night and thought that it was excellent. funny, gripping and although far fetched well worth seeing. lots of male and female eye candy, and a great story - what else do you want from a film? seriously though, there has been a lack of good films recently, but this had restored my faith in the film industry. can't wait to see it on DVD.
I was impressed by the acting (but not very impressed by Kim Bassingers awful hair extensions). I laughed out loud at the 'Ricky Martin' moment, i jumped at the shooty, scary bits and held on to my seat when i thought the bad guy would win. If you haven't seen this film then GO AND SEE IT, you won't be disappointed.
Because plot is the sum total here, the alarming holes, inconsistencies and impossibilities in Chris Morgan's script corrode this drama of distress.
