About a police detective, Jack, who, while doing a friend a favor and searching for a runaway teenager on Turk Street, stumbles upon a bizarre band of criminals about to pull off a bank robbery. Jack finds himself being held hostage while the criminals decide what to do with him, and the leader's beautiful girlfriend, Erin, is left alone to watch Jack. Erin, who we discover is a master manipulator of the men in the gang, reveals another side to Jack - a melancholy romantic who could have been a classical cellist. She finds Jack's captivity an irresistible turn-on and he can't figure out if she's for real, or manipulating him, too. Before the gang returns, Jack and Erin's connection intensifies and who ends up with the money is anyone's guess. Hadn't heard anything about this movie. That in and of itself is not a good sign. Regardless, I was interested in the actors in the film and it sounded as if it had a plot. This movie suffers from a slow pace direction. Milla Jovovich is nice to look at and does a good job with her portrayal of the complex Erin. Jackson is quietly effective as the diabetic, music-loving cop-in-the-wrong-place Jack. The other characters as less engaging but are well-acted. Seemed like a short movie stretched to 97 min. Should have had a few more subplots or a few more scenes with Jackson and Jovovich. The end was fairly predictable, although we see Jackson flex the acting muscles a bit. In essence, good acting, fair plot, and poor pace. I just thought this movie was not that good. I had never heard of it and thought I would check it out because I love Milla Jovovich and Sam Jackson. I picked it up previously viewed and popped it in and... blah. That is the best way I can describe this movie. It was just blah. Nothing special at all and just bland. Milla is beautiful and looks great and she does her best as does Sam Jackson but I don't think anything can save this snooze fest. If you have nothing else to do and there is nothing else on TV and you don't have to clean or clip your toe nails and if there is no paint pealing off the walls you can watch, and or you are a Jovovich fan, give it a shot but its really just not that good.
