The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can.
After SAO is finally over, everyone is finally able to relax and just enjoy playing their favorite games and MMORPGs. But out of nowhere, Kirito is asked to meet with a government agent who had previously investigated SAO. Kirito was then informed of a man seemingly killing players in the real world, by shooting them in a game. Then Kirito decides to investigate this. He enters the game Gun Gale Online (GGO for short), as usual, he befriends another player in GGO. Then secrets they're searching for fall right at their feet.
Hello everybody! I'm just saying, but I'm a TWEEN that's writing this. SAO is a really great anime. I'll start by saying that it really gives an Action/Adventure and Sci-Fi vibe. You gamers out there might also like it since, well, the characters are in a video game. It's very interesting to watch how people interact in the near future in a virtual-reality death game. Yes, I said "death game". The creator of the game supposedly trapped all the players of SAO in the game. If you die in SAO, you'll also die in real-life. Why? Because of the high tech console people use in the future.
And for you shippers,fangirls,OTPeople, and Otakus, there is A LOT of shipping in here. In conclusion, SAO is a very AWESOME anime. I HIGHLY Recommend IT. (sorry for my bad spelling.)
This is one of the best anime's out there right now. It is as excellent as it is genre diverse. There is fantasy, science fiction, romance and gaming. The world is detailed and beautifully animated, and the characters are well rounded and interesting. The first half of the season is utterly perfect. Now the part with spoilers: In the second half, it isn't quite as good. It's still worth watching, especially if happy endings are important to you, but it reduces Asuna to a damsel in distress and has some weird parts. (incest and tentacle rape, but it's not graphic) So in conclusion: The first half was perfect, definitely watch it, and the second half, while not as good, is still excellent.
