A world divided into progress and devastation. The link between the two sides - Offshore and Inland - is a rigorous and painstaking system called The Process. Everyone in Inland has a chance to go through The Process to live a better life in Offshore. But only 3% make it through.
The reason I gave this show a 4/10 is because the plot is somewhat interesting and I feel like it could have actually been good, if it wasn't for the sub-par acting and bad voice-over. I'm not going to complain too much about the voice-over, but honestly, it was just horrible. The (English) voice-over didn't correspond with the ENG subs and aside from the fact that the voice-over didn't overlap properly with the way their lips moved (which can be expected with a voice-over), the budget seemed unreasonably low for a Sci-Fi show in 2016. Now to get onto the main point: the acting. The acting was absolutely horrendous and I may be scarred for life. The only reason I was able to get through even one episode is because the plot is actually interesting. The acting didn't even seem forced, it was just plain bad - like putting an effort in was too much of a hassle. I didn't feel any particular connection to the actors, even when there was supposed to be a sad scene. Crying seemed delayed, like the actor wasn't sure what the cue was; facial expressions were sometimes over-exaggerated or too lax for the occasion. When something that should have been very traumatizing happened, some actors made a valiant effort at appearing surprised, but the majority took it like an everyday occurrence and continued on with their day. I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about if you watch the first episode.
TL;DR: Storyline is good. Acting and (English) voice-over is bad.
The creators of this show are pure geniuses. I was watching Netflix and the 3% came up as recommendation and I gave this wonderful series a try. I came in the show with really low expectations and was surprised that 3% was so amazing. One of the best TV shows out there right now. The plot is what makes this show so great, I'm so glad that 3% got a second season. I can't wait for the second season to come out. The characters are the best I've seen in a long time. This show is a big time adrenaline rush that will keep you wanting more and more.
