After spending fifteen years in prison for a mafia bust in the 1970's, Tommy Vercetti has returned to work for Sonny Forelli, the mob boss that cost him his original jail sentence. He arrives in Vice City and is targeted for a setup that leads to the loss of Forelli's drug money, and Forelli demands that Tommy get him the money back. Vice City is a land of corrupt police, adulterous politicians, unrighteous religious leaders, and a bitter population controlled by murderous gangs and mafia lords. With everyone gunning for Tommy, his only chance for survival is to fight back. Armed with an attorney and a group of allies, Tommy sets out to defeat Vice City through real estate, gang wars, and anti-mafia mayhem.
Having just get out of jail, a hitman for a mob family is about to be sent home to Liberty City to be with the family. But fearing his arrival, his boss, Sonny Forelli, sends him down south to Vice City to expand the Forelli Crime Empire. But when he arrives, he is set up and loses his money, cocaine, and two partners. Sonny then wants his money back and the bastards who set this ambush up. Tommy then meets Lance Vance, the supplier of the coke, who's brother was iced in the ambush. Together, these two criminals set out to rid the people who stole from them and build their own drug empire.
The year is 1986 - the 80s. You are Tommy Vercetti, an ex convict released from Liberty City (fictional version of New York) prison after serving a fifteen-year sentence. His boss Sonny Forelli promotes him to a higher rank in his crime business and sets him loose in Vice City (fictional version of Miami, Florida). Tommy is instructed to participate in a cocaine deal and see that everything goes well. Unfortunately, the job fails, as Tommy and the gang are ambushed by several men with assault rifles. Tommy and his crooked lawyer Ken Rosenberg barely escape intact. After reluctanctly explaining the mess to Sonny, they try to find out who "stole the money!". They devise plans and get to know Vice City's criminal underworld, the biggest players in the city to find out who took the money. This is when the game really starts.
From then onwards Vice City is your sandbox and you can do pretty much everything you can imagine. You can progress the story, you can dance at night clubs, you can do stunt driving. You can drive a variety of cars, motorcycles, helicopters (even drones! later in the game) or you can massacre everyone and the US army itself will hunt you down (this would be the perfect opportunity to grab Rhino - a tank - if you can). Progressing the story unlocks new abilities and areas in the game. There are multiple side quests you can partake in. Vice City felt like a breathing city at the time of release. The developers have done a PERFECT job in capturing the essense of 80s Miami, the architecture, the lights, the music, the neon lens flares, the pink touch in everything, the sun. It's all there. The game's style is a clear mix of 80s Miami Vice, with the greatest inspriration from the 1984 movie Scarface, coupled with a satiric, but realistic nonetheless, vibe of the american dream. The map/game world is big enough for you to explore and find many unique secret locations. There are multiple interiors, like shops, cafeterias, safehouses, hotels, night clubs, hospitals, police stations and more, even a HUGE mall! There are dozens of different guns and tools you can use in the game, from handguns and meat cleavers (my then personal favorite) to miniguns and missile launchers. There are a million miscellaneous things to do, and i won't try to list them all in fear of leaving something behind. Those mentioned already should be enough to hook you up with the ride of your life.
Everything in this game is perfect. The mature story rivals that of the best movies. You meet plenty of complex and deep characters along the way leading you on the path to the top of the Vice City. If you play as a kid you won't understand why you're doing what you're doing, you'll just enjoy doing it and have a good time. And of course none can talk about Vice City without mentioning the music. The music includes fictional, hand-crafted radio stations, complete with radio hosts that talk & feel completely alive and interacting on the multiple game's current events as the plot unfolds. Make sure you check them all. The songs for the various stations couldn't have been selected more meticulously (seriously). Finally, visuals and Graphics are top notch. For it's time VC was a technical achievement (not as groundbreaking as GTA 3, or San Andreas but still worthy of mentioning). The game earned numerous awards.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City is my 2nd favorite video game of all time. This game has been the reason why i bought a PS2. Suffice to say that i played it to death. While i was playing the game nothing else mattered in the world. I was Tony, a super badass crook doing as i please, basically just chillin, riding n' killin. I remember back then almost every friend of mine was playing it for years to come. Me and my friends were visiting each other's houses to play together. To this day, those are one of the fondest memories i have of my childhood. Overall, the amount of laughs that have come from this game is unmeasureable. I am grateful for them and will treasure them forever. Vice City remains my favorite GTA game, just a bit ahead of San Andreas. This is primarily due to the music and the style. You could argue that before Vice City i had pretty much no taste, no personality (especially in music). Afterwards i was a new person, with new experiences. VC was a controversial game, because it allows anyone to commit extremely violent stuff and have a laugh about it. I was ~11 years old when i played the game and i never once thought that i could do stuff like that in real life. I just felt cooler at times, particularly seeing how Tommy Vercetti talks & walks. I wouldn't recommend this game to mentally unstable individuals. If you are healthy, mature, responsible & know how real life works then there's nothing to be afraid of (but fear).

Cause I've passed the game around 12 times I sometimes play it during my free time I and thanks to the mission where you break Cam Jones out of the Washington beach police station you unlock the police uniform and is fun to change into{this is located in the station's locker room} and grab a squad car from the back of the station and sometimes trail along some real cop and chase after a criminal and thats my point most of the time you see cops chasing after someone and if you do to and punch him you get a "$50 GOOD CITEZEN REWARD" and is a good way to make fifty bucks but the person being chased seems out of the blue its always a black man with blue jeans, white sneaks, a black sleeveless jacket with gloves and black hair unless these cops are extremely racist or these black men are convicts those cops are racist Im pretty sure they're not certainly all convicts. I followed one around and all they seem to do is walk until a police guy came up and smacked the fellow with a night stick you don't fell bad cause you don't care its A GAME and you make fifty bucks but its interesting how the cops don't go after others like the fat black men in white tank tops and red and black shorts who are usually found in on the beaches or them other five types which I wont describe to you cause you probably bored by the time reading this and oh yeah THANKS!.
