A vulgar private detective is hired to find a missing groupie and is drawn into a mystery involving a series of murders tied to the music industry.
Ford "Mr. Rock n' Roll Detective" Fairlane is experiencing problems, and it's not with the opposite sex. One of them is that all the rock stars pay him with drum sticks, koala bears, food processors and bicycle shorts. Another one of them is that all his employers that want him to find a girl named Zuzu Petals get killed. Why didn't he become a fisherman's detective instead? A must-see for Andrew Dice Clay fans.
Okay,let's get this straight.America,in recent history,has produced three major alternative comedians,Bill Hicks,Lenny Bruce (in the slightly less recent sixties),and Andrew Dice Clay.All three are very different.However,Hicks and Bruce were brilliant,whereas Dice Clay is....NOT! This is about as bad as comedies get.It is childish,immature,smutty and,let's be polite here,AWFUL!!!For god's sake this is RUBBISH!The only people who could possibly find this funny are people with the mentality of a dead hamster.If only it were Dice Clay who was dead instead of Lenny and Bill.And just WHAT is Robert Englund doing in this??
It is sad how low score this movie has got from people who wouldn't recognize humour even if ít banged on their head with a hammer.
This movie is THE best movie by director Renny Harlin who has produced many blockbuster action hits on his career.
It is a parody of all stupid action movies with a detective or such character getting all things settled by the end of movie.
The plot is hilarious to begin with, the characters unrealistic, the events flowing at a rollercoaster-pace.
The final confrontation with the criminal pretty much summarizes it all: The man holds Ford Fairlane at gun point, about to shoot him when the detective asks him to be a REAL man and throw that gun away in order to fight Ford mano a mano, a machoman's style with fists/knives. As the criminal throws away his gun, Ford pulls out his and starts asking the guy "how stupid can you get, throwing away your gun like that".
Lets face it, how many movies have you seen where the final scene is a fist-fight between the hero and the villain? I bet quite a few too many.
I laughed all the way threw this film at the oneliners that Ford Fairlane is throwing away.
Just watch the movie, you could waste your time a lot worse (like watching Cliffhanger)
If he wants a future in the movies, Andrew Dice Clay is going to have to play somebody other than himself.
