A single, albeit overweight, parent, Paul Blart lives a middle-classed lifestyle with his daughter, Maya, in New Jersey. After being mocked at in school, and having been unsuccessful to get employment with the local police services, he gets hired at a Mall as a security guard. He is attracted to a mall employee, Amy, but his attempts to woo her are foiled by a pen salesman. His continuing efforts to date Amy are hilarious as he must first adapt himself to cell phones and text messaging, which he attempts to do with his pal, Vijay's daughter's cell-phone. Things get complicated after he is instructed to train a new security guard - who has an agenda of his own - that will end up changing Paul's life forever. When a shopping mall is taken over by a gang of organized crooks, it's up to a mild-mannered security guard to save the day. I am a big Kevin James fan from watching him on "The King of Queens", but, this movie was really uneven. I'll give Kevin his props. He was pretty agile, and on the motorized cart he was good on that- whatever it is called. But the story line was slow at times, and sometimes just downright silly-stupid. I enjoyed seeing all the old crew from the "King of Queens" episodes. In fact, it would have been nice to see Jerry Stiller make a small cameo. That would have helped. I just got the feeling from watching some of the scenes, they weren't worked out as well as they should have been. And the script itself needed some over haul, especially the ending. I did laugh at a few pranks, but I didn't connect with the girl who played his daughter, for starters. That was bad casting there. Some scenes appeared rushed, or just didn't fit the flow of the movie. It just seemed the director and producer said to Kevin, "well, it's not great, but , what the heck, it's done, I laughed, let's go to the next shot." We kind of felt like that when we left the theater. "it's not that great, but what the heck. I laughed at a few things. Let's move on." Chances are, if you haven't seen this movie, you'll say the same thing. This movie is exactly what I want to see when I cough up my hard-earned money to see a comedy! No vulgar language, gratuitous sex or violence (I mean REAL violence) and lots and lots of shoot-soda-out-of-your-nose laughs! I liked Kevin James in the King of Queens and fell for him in Hitch but this movie pretty much clinches it for me....I LOVE Kevin James! How can you not love this guy? He's cute, cuddly, smart, funny and doesn't take himself too seriously. But enough about the man, let's talk movie.

This movie is GREAT family-friendly entertainment. These days, you don't get much of that at the theaters, except maybe in an animated flick - and even those are sometimes iffy. This film has some of the best and most perfectly timed slap stick that I have seen in years. Paul Blart is a guy you can root for and probably see a little bit of yourself in, if you're honest. Plus, the values this film projects are those of family, honesty, integrity, hard work, love, friendship and honor. When was the last time you got all of those and popcorn too? The only real difference between this and the handful of other Happy Madison flicks is that James (executive producer, co-writer, star) has made this Sandleresque movie family-friendly, with very little swearing, no nudity and all the edginess of a "King of Queens" rerun. Paul Blart: Mall Cop is based on a screenplay by Kevin James, who plays the title character, and by writer and voice actor Nick Bakay. ...on the ring tone for Paul's borrowed phone: My bubble Gum by Rasheeda

...the first karaoke song: Runaway by Bon Jovi

...when Paul is leaving the house for work: Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra

...in the trailer: Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi

...in the bar: Runaway by Bon Jovi

...when he walks over to Amy at the end: I Can't Hold Back by Survivor

...when he starts singing in the video games: Detroit Rock City by Kiss Yes. An extra scene depicting Blart's wedding is shown about 20 seconds into the credits, but there's nothing after the credits. The extra scene is not worth sticking around for. a5c7b9f00b
