The "revolutionary" minions: Kevin- the leader, Stuart- the rebel and Bob- their lovable little brother left the "Minion Tribes"- which have served their ex-masters, from the famous dinosaur T-Rex to Napoleon the Great; and went seeking for a new "master". Finally, their journey ends in London after being recruited by a female super villain named Scarlet Overkill and her husband Herb in Orlando, who wanted to rule the world. Now, the three minions must face a new challenge: saving all of the Minion tribes from a huge plan of Minion annihilation.
From loud and gigantic T-Rexes to strong and hairy cavemen, and from haughty pharaohs to even the great Napoleon himself, the minuscule banana-yellow creatures known only as the "Minions", exist only to serve the most villainous boss they could get their hands on. However, after a long string of ill-served masters, the well-meaning but utterly inept beings will find themselves without a purpose, as an entire headless tribe must pin their hopes on three little minions, Kevin, Stuart and Bob, to discover the most despicable evil lord. Rumour has it that the infamous international villain and the first woman in the trade, Scarlet Overkill, might be the one they have been looking for all their lives; nevertheless, is she really what the minions have been waiting for?
Well what to say about the cutest adorables. The plot thou was the least appealing. I felt the film had been given away in the trailers, the amount of teasers released. What would have been ideal would be whereby the Minions find all the Boss THROUGHOUT the film, however the film, thou went from one boss to another. That was a let down. Oh there was no shortage of laughter. You are guarantee laughter. Another thing however, the language of the Minions, I feel they should actually speak English or more so at the very least subtitles. It was very cool thou when Gru came at the very end after freezing Scarlett Overkill(Bullock) and her hubbie Herb. And an added extra, during the credits, you could see Gru getting acquintatned with the most loved adorables Minions.
So, what happened in the past? "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" was some of the most successful animated movies of all time. Their featured creatures "minions" became very popular and also gained a lot of cash. So, what to do? Of course they did a spin-off movie called "Minions".
They had the mean but kind minions (slapping each other and so on) and they had the millions of people just waiting to see a funny movie. What they did? They flushed every opportunity of a good movie down the drain.
Who wrote this script? The funny thing about the minions in the first two movies was that they were mean to each other in loving, small ways - slapping each other, tripping each other, sticking out their tongue... In this movie? They failed to show this. In the first two movies they were funny stupid. In this movie they were just stupid. Only twice did I smile at the minions behaviour. The rest of it was actually pure garbage.
The silly plot MIGHT have worked if they would have based the story on what made minions funny in the first place - slapstick humor. Now it just falls flat. Story and jokes are not that funny. I was looking forward to watch this but it really turns out to be a huge disappointment. It was a good foundation to stand on and once again greedy people fails to deliver.
This is truly a bad movie. The script fails the funny minions.
The action sequences are wild, the jokes relentlessly dumb-but-smart, and the sheer sense of anything-goes daftness...is glorious.
