In case you were wondering, THIS IS NOT SILLY LITTLE KIDS SHOW!!! Yes, it airs on a kid based network, and yes kids will like the bending action, but to understand the complexity and the beauty of some of these episodes, you have to be a teen or adult. I'm a teenage girl, and I have a life, believe me. I'm not some strange kid who spends all their time watching TV. This is the kind of show I LIVE for! Okay, I admit it. I didn't really care for this shows first season. Back then it was mostly a "kids show." I'd seen an episode or two and judged it. But after not watching Avatar for the longest time, I tuned back in (out of boredom and curiosity) about halfway through season 2. And boy am I glad I did!! Because that's when Avatar's plot really got intense.
Avatar (Avatar: the last Airbender being the official name) is about a world where a percentage of the people have the power to control one of the four elements. This is called bending. There are water, earth, fire and airbenders, whom live in four different nations throughout the world. There is one individual who has the power to learn all four elements and keeps the world in balance, called the Avatar. But when the Fire Nation declares war for ultimate power, the Avatar strangely disappears. After 100 years of war, a brother and sister discover the Avatar, an airbender, encased in an Ice-burg, frozen in time. Now he must learn to cope with his destiny, master the elements, and save the world before a comet comes at summers end, giving the fire nation unstoppable power. New allies are made and sides are chosen, as the Avatar learns to except his inevitable destiny.
Oh my god, the drama, the action, the romance, and even a bit of comedy, this show has all you could possibly ask for!! The shocking cliff hangers and teasers for Avatar will leave you rolling around on the floor– I'm not kidding guys!! Never have I been so addicted to any show, ever.
And what amazing themes, like destiny, balance, love, power, war. (Watch, "The Guru" and you know what I'm talking about.) I've never felt just so enlightened, or amazed at anything as I have with this show. Just the heart-pounding emotion and (oh my god) drama that pours of the season 2 finale! Oh my god what can I say.
And don't even get me started on the fandom. And the shipping!! It's a crazy world out there, the world of shipping. Once you go in, you can't get out. Everyone wants their ship to be cannon, and that's half the fun! It's vicious let me tell you, just brutal! (Oh and Kataang for the win by the way!! Wooo!!) If you're going to get into Avatar, I would suggest you watch one of the better episodes before judging it. For example, "The Awakening," "The Desert," "The Chase," "Lake Laogai," just to name a couple! (I would have said "The Guru," and "The Crossroads of Destiny," but that would give away WAY too much! The two episodes that make up the season 2 finale are the BEST so far in my opinion!) And with season 3 just having premiered on September 21st, and new episodes for 10 straight weeks, the Avatar fandom has a lot to look forward to!! My god, season 3's been promised to be the best, most dramatic season yet, and it's the last season too. So if you're just getting ready to become an "avatard," as we call ourselves, you picked a good time, cause we've got a hell of a good season ahead of us!! The good times are here again!
Don;t believe the hype this show is bad, for one it is too predictable I mean who couldn't see that Aang and Katara would get together or Zuko would turn into a goodie? All the characters are bland and there's no development except for the usual "believe in yourself" rubbish in 99% of shows. It is also a bit racist because it portrays Fire as the bad guys, whats up with that? There should have been bad guys from the other 3 elements too. Don't be hatin on fire, without fire you'd all be dead oh and water is a bigger killer than Fire in real life(Tsunami anyone?) so if anything Katra and Sokka should have been the main baddies.
Also why is making machines bad but living in your own poop with nature if good? Guess what without machines you couldn't even make this stupid show
Its also a rip off of Japanese anime. If you want watch some Asian cartoons go watch some Asian cartoons, why watch a cheap western rip-off? Don;t be a sheep, think for yourself and realise that Avatar is crap.
In Ba Sing Se, Jet is captured by the Dai Li and is brain-washed to betray the Avatar. Jet overcomes the mind-control after being ordered to attack Aang and his friends and is killed by Long Feng in the "Lake Laogai" episode. Jet actually dies off-screen; his fate has been confirmed by the show's creators. Currently there is one Live Action Film The Last Airbender (2010), written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan . The film was produced at Paramount. The movie was titled "The Last Airbender" to avoid confusion with James Cameron's unrelated film "Avatar." The movie was released in theaters on July 2, 2010. Shooting took place on stages in Philadelphia, as well as locations including Greenland. Series creators Michael DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko served as executive producers. As to casting, the roles of Aang went to karate-trained Texan Noah Ringer; Sokka to Jackson Rathbone; Katara to Nicola Peltz and Dev Patel as Zuko.
Originally, the plan was for three live-action films. The showbiz magazine Variety announced on January 8th, 2007 that filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan had signed a 3-picture deal with Paramount's MTV Films and Nick Movies to write, direct and produce the live-action film adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
Despite a lack of popularity with USA cinema-goers, The Last Airbender film continued to be tremendously financially successful around the world and was therefore quite popular. IMDB reports that as of the 23rd of September 2010, the worldwide gross figures for the film was $319,731,881. From a financial standpoint, this figure suggests that all of the costs of making the film were recouped plus an additional 100% profit. The gross in USA cinemas up until the 19th of September 2010 (IMDB) was $131,564,731, meaning that more than 50% of the gross was from outside USA. In sum, the first film was had average success in USA and big success around the world.
In April 2013, rumours were building quickly that M. Night Shyamalan is preparing for the the sequel: The Last Airbender: Book 2 Earth. As of September 2017 there are no information regarding any sequel. No. 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the spin-off series titled The Legend of Korra reveals that there is at least one new airbender, Tenzin, the son of Aang and Katara. Tenzin is the airbending teacher to Korra, the new Avatar. His 3 children, Aang's grandchildren, are also Airbenders. No, but there will be a follow-up comic-book series and a sequel set decades after the original show. The creators confirmed that at San Diego Comic Con in July, 2007. Other stories will be told in the Avatar world and there is the live-action movie, but the animated series ends with Book 3: Fire. The further adventures of Aang and his friends will be continued in an ongoing comic-book series to be published by Dark Horse Comics.

'The Legend of Korra' takes place 70 years after the events of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. Korra is tutored by Aang's son, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending; so, in a sense, 'The Legend of Korra' will be 'Book 4: Air', because the Avatar is learning airbending. The incomplete line of Avatar toys, produced by Mattel, can be found online and in most major toy stores. Yes all three seasons are availible on DVD, however no blu ray set has been anounced yet Yes. The follow-up series called [link]tt1695360[/link] and takes place 70 years after the events of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'. Follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang -- a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra." The series ran from 2010 t0 2014 in Nickelodean and contains 52 episodes. Quoting from The Wall Street Journal:Korra's quest eventually leads her to Republic City--the epicenter of the world of Avatar. A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations.
