Henry, a newly resurrected cyborg who must save his wife/creator from the clutches of a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, AKAN, and his army of mercenaries. Fighting alongside Henry is Jimmy, who is Henry's only hope to make it through the day. Hardcore takes place over the course of one day, in Moscow, Russia.
Hardcore Henry is an action film told from a first person perspective: You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who's got her? His name's Akan; he's a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You're also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy. He may be on your side, but you aren't sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You're likely going to need it...
During the final fight when henry ripped Kans hand he wasn't able to use his powers but he could have used them with his other hand also henry was not able to talk it would have been awesome if he could so he could tell his enemy's he is going to kill them it was weird that henry couldn't talk but the death were he chopped his head off with the barbed wire was excellent i loved how he also flew through the van and killed the soldiers also it was weird how he would never carry extra mags for his weapons like the Ak-47 or the makarov he was a good character i didn't like that Jimmy would die every time i liked when he was in the woods and was in the ghillie suit with the m14 but it was random the fact there was a horse in the middle of nowhere or when he called the flamers jacket gay and got burned to death the movie deserves 100 stars excellent.
Hardcore Henry is essentially a first person shooter because it is told from the point of view of the protagonist whose face we do not see and whose voice we do not hear.
Henry escapes from bad guys who are trying to kill him and a deranged scientist who is after in order to rescue his wife who has been kidnapped. Sharlo Copley turns up as various persons mostly with a cockney accent that sounds like Jason Statham. You immediately think that this film reminds you of the Crank films, until Copley shows up as a soldier with a stiff upper lip when he channels his inner Peter Sellers.
Copley provides the humour but the film tries too hard to mimic a console game, Henry comes across as indestructible and I never really fathomed what what the story was about as it was non existent, although it did kind of feel similar to Robocop as the mad scientist is trying to create some kind of a cyborg army.
The film was shot by specially mounted GoPro cameras but the film just feels too much of a gimmick and less coherent.
Hardcore blasts along like a supercharged computer-game shoot-em-up, bursting with sick humor and splatterpunk violence.
