Two Chicago firefighter brothers, who don't get along, have to work together while a dangerous arsonist is on the loose. Brian McCaffrey's father's a fireman and he was there, as a child, when his father died. When he grew he tried to be a fireman but quit and left town and for a few years tried other jobs. He would eventually return and try to be fireman again. However, he finds himself working under his brother Stephen whom he doesn't exactly have a good relationship with. When Brian gets his picture in the paper and is lauded as a hero when in fact it was a mistake, a politician offers him a job working under the department's arson investigator, Donald Rimgale. It seems that Ringale is working some unusual fires wherein someone is killed. Brian initially refuses but when he has too many confrontations with Stephen, he takes the job. And he gets a lesson on what it means to be a fireman. the greatest and best film i ever saw. realize how every day firefighters risk their lives to save us. it was a film with a great story. these firefighters have a heart of an angel. the shows how dangerous fires are and how firefighters decides that first becomes the person not them. the great moment of back draft is when it becomes to finish when Kurt Russell dies to save his friend. it is a dangerous job and they does not do it for glory but because they have the courage and someone has to do it i d like to thank all the firefighters and i really i appreciate what they are doing. it is a film that really shows a life of a fireman. The script was dumb. The music, while good on it's own terms, was way too melodramatic for it's own good. This flicks only saving grace is the fires. Who can watch the scene where waves of flame ripple across the ceiling and not feel that sense of awe? if only the plot was better developed this would have been the ultimate fire film. Oh well. Another film in the long line of "Looks great, tastes horrible". Visually, [the film] often is exhilarating, but it's shapeless and dragged down by corny, melodramatic characters and situations. a5c7b9f00b
