The magical action-adventures of a teenage girl who learns of her destiny as the legendary warrior Sailor Moon and must band together with the other Sailor Soldiers to defend the Earth and Galaxy.
Usagi, a normal teenage girl, finds out she's Sailor Moon and gets into all sorts of trouble at the beginning trying to fight for love and justice. She then gets better and with her friends Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus they fight against the evils of The Dark Kingdom, The Hell Tree, and The Black Moon.
Sailor Moon is a true anime legend that will be remembered for decades to come. It has touched the heart of many girls and boys across the globe, encouraging friendship, kindness and team work. Showing young people that they too can be champions of love and justice.
In the anime, Usagi (Serena/Sailor Moon) is a naïve young 14 year old girl who must follow her destiny as a sailor soldier. She is as you might put it, a spoiled little cry baby with no experience at all at being a hero. She is pulled away from normality and must save the world with her friends. She learns as the seasons pass, the hardship of being a warrior and matures greatly throughout each season along with her friends Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and Chibi Moon. I will no longer address the dub because for me, the dub is not the real show. It was changed so severely in the English version that I can hardly recognize it. Sailor Moon is actually about life, the fun, the romance, the excitement and pain that we all experience. It has it all. There have been changes so drastic that it no longer has the same effect. They tried to make it as mindless as possible in the dubbed version so I stopped watching it in English. There are 5 seasons of Sailor Moon: Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor moon S, Sailor Moon SS, Sailor Stars.
In the first, with the evil queen, the sailor soldiers die ( not a gory death), but this scene was so heart felt, so sad in the original version that I cried. Which proved that this show is full of emotion but alas, it was taken out in the dubbed. Then there were the two sprites with the doom tree. In Sailor Moon R, that was when the Nega-Moon tried to take over crystal Tokyo. They turned Chibi-USA against Sailor Moon and matured her body into a 17 year old dressed in black. The emotions felt when watching her become good again as she let her heart be filled with love made a tear drip from my eye.
Then came Sailor Moon S. The music, the plot and everything about that season was immaculate. It was the season where the messiah of silence was to be revealed as the soldier of destruction, Sailor Saturn who had been possessed as Mistress 9 and wanted to get a hold of Sailor Moon's grail . They changed the name of the Grail because actually, the maker of Sailor Moon was referring to the Holy Grail and all of the mythology behind it, which tells you that Sailor Moon was in fact not made for little 6 year olds(not saying they can't watch it).
In Super S, There were3 cross dressing men that they changed into women. Can you go any lower? I only saw 5 episodes from this season but it was a very nice one. Chibiusa falls in love with a prince, Pegasus and he helps her defeat the evil Queen Nehairinia
And finally Sailor stars, my favorite season. Nehairinia escapes from her prison and forces Sailor Moon to fight to save her future husband and child. It is a beautiful story of bravery, selflessness and love as Sailor Moon goes through enchanted worlds of mirrors and lies to save the man she loves from death. Instead of killing her enemy, she lets her start her life over from day one so that her heart does not get manipulated by evil and vanity. Sailor Moon becomes like a magic genie and let's the queen relive her life and stay kind and sweet forever. Sailor Moon does not like violence and if she can she tries to avoid it. And that's not all in Stars. Then, after the defeat of the queen, mysterious new Sailor Soldiers come to earth. The Evil golden queen Sailor Galaxia, the most powerful soldier in the universe comes to earth to kill all of the good senshi. Sailor Galaxia was once good herself but her body was possessed by Chaos and made her do horrible things. She went from planet to planet, whipping out civilizations and turning other sailor soldiers into her slaves. They are in fact sailor soldiers, they have just been turned evil.
In the end, after a fierce battle of Sailor against Sailor, Our Moon Princess prevails and finds a way to restore peace to the galaxy and turns all the evil Sailors back to normal and finally gets hitched to her hubby!
This season was never dubbed due to the Christian Coalition. Pretty much self explanatory. They tried to ban Harry Potter from public libraries because they talk about magic. God forbid an end to sexism and prejudice.
But anyway, you can buy it on DVD with subtitles. Sailor Stars is by far the best season out of them all. It made me laugh and cry and cry again and then laugh some more. I'm not kidding when I say that there are some moments in here that seriously make you want to cry (if your not emotionally impaired/ignorant/suppressed) And the mysterious Sailor Starlights who appear!
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
it was one of my favorite shows as a kid and once I grew older I kind of forgotten about it but then out of nowhere I remember the song My Only Love which is the song that was played when we find out that Serena is the princess of the moon kingdom which then my friend had that episode and I remember being a kid again and remembering all the good times with this show and now I am planning to see the Japanese version as well which I never knew there was till I did research of the show and the things that I found interesting about the Japanese version is: -Sailor Neptune and Uranus are lovers instead of cousins which I kind of had a feeling that they were and I guess I was right -Zoicite and Malachite were homosexuals and in love -Zoicite was a man which shocked me like crazy you wouldn't understand -The music and the extra scenes that wouldn't show in the American version because of the children (for example: how Darian chokes Serena when Darian was in Queen Beryl's control -Extra episodes such as if the parents would keep Luna in the home and so much more I have finished the first season of the Japanese version and it wasn't bad at all but I like the American version abit better and its not just cause American version they spoke in English or anything like that its just when I watched it I just couldn't get into it like I got with the American version I ain't saying that the Japanese version is bad they are both good and I am still gonna watch season 2 of Sailor Moon in Japanese to see more I hope they put back Sailor Moon on TV so I can see season 5 in the American version to see what that would be like and what else I liked about Sailor Moon was the relationship with Serena And Darien from the beginning the fight,pain,love,trust,lost,gain that I always wanted a relationship like that which is so beautiful
