The second war against the Cylons is over, and The Twelve Colonies have been destroyed. Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony, Earth. However, the dangers they face are many, which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to the Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space and their infiltrator units carrying out sabotage--even as their former unwitting pawn, Gaius Baltar, helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought--the fleet also faces internal political conflict in which the rabble-rousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice, not to mention recurring shortages of food, water, and even oxygen. In the midst of these trials, however, clues begin to appear to suggest that Adama's bluff about finding Earth might hold more truth than anyone could have guessed.
When an old enemy, the Cylons, resurface and obliterate the 12 colonies, the crew of the aged Galactica protect a small civilian fleet - the last of humanity - as they journey toward the fabled 13th colony, Earth.
No spoilers here. I love this series. Can't complain so far. Tivo it and 24 and the Unit each week. Works for me. later All the characters are excellently portrayed. Lots of action. Lots of drama (sometimes a tad too much drama). Edward James Olmos is excellent. From the miniseries forth I have enjoyed this show. Rock on. what else can I say about the film. Oh yeah, if it had been made with a an R rating, I think it would have been even better. But how much better could it be, I mean I gave it a 10. If we actually saw Starbuck naked, would that impress us even more? Or does less mean more in that instance. The only negative I could even think about giving the series is the special effects. I know they are on a limited budget so I cut them some slack on those issues. The characters, plot, scenarios and they way the series has handled itself is great
I've only just recently finished watching both the mini-series and series one of BSG so I thought I'd come on here and see what other people have thought of it, and I can't believe how much it has polarised opinion! Ye gods, it seems like this is one show that people either REALLY love or REALLY hate! Well, sorry to say this but I'm firmly in the former camp. Love the new look, the characters, the incredible visual style, the grittiness (in comparison with the cheesy original), the tension - but hey, feel free to disagree if you want! I've read the negative comments and, as someone who tries to keep an open mind, I have to confess that some of them have merit. Yes, there are a number of plot holes. Yes, I can see why some people would be fed up with the cinema verite camera-work. I can't see why some people would get so worked up about the gender change to some of the characters but you're entitled to your opinion. Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on series two!

Cylons are humanoid robots created by mankind as servants and laborers. Eventually, they rebelled and declared war on their human masters. Miniseries - This 3 hour miniseries acts as a pilot for the weekly series and introduces the characters and situations.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor - This 2 hour TV movie ( officially the first two episodes of Season 4 ) takes place during Season 2, with flashbacks to the miniseries and earlier, but should be viewed here.

Caprica - A 19 episode prequel series set 58 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica. Battlestar Galactica : Blood & Chrome - A 2 hour prequel movie that is set during the first Cylon War, 40 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica and around 18 years after Caprica. The story follows a young William Adama ( future commander of the Galactica ) as a new recruit in the Colonial Fleet, and shows his first experience of battling the Cylons. Released on DVD and Blu-ray. Yes, the miniseries acts as a pilot, and sets up all of the events, characters, and themes of the series.
