A young street magician (Jacob Latimore) is left to care for his little sister after their parents passing, and turns to illegal activities to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped, and he is forced to use his magic and brilliant mind to save her.
I didn't have high hopes for this movie, and neither should you! It's not your average kid who discovers he has super powers and you see him jumping from building to building and take on a bunch of bad guys and he's the hero of the day. NOOOOOOOOO. This movie is as real as it gets. With the combination of magic tricks, drama, a taste of iron man, a taste or chronicle, all added into a huge mix of REALISM. So don't think of it too hard but I praise Jacob Latimore for a brilliant performance. The movie wasn't over done with multiple sub lots or any vast usage of poor graphical effects. It was just the right amount you'd need on a dinner platter! Must see again and again!
At the start it felt like I was in for a treat. I felt like something very interesting will happen in this story. But little did I know that was the zenith of this movie. Everything went down from that cliff.
On the hindsight the story is not so different form any other poorly written action movie. The directing was interesting enough to make it seem like this had something in it. If you have watched this movie and liked it then take a break and really think about the story. It is utterly ridiculous.
This is not a good movie and I would recommend skipping it.
Sleight never shows much interest in exploring how blackness can inform its genre's tropes.
