Set in a near future, technology-reliant society that pits man against killing machines.
Set in a near future, technology-reliant society is creating killing machines. Against this backdrop an elite Marine unit is helicoptered in to a remote, off-the-grid island training facility, to test the capabilities of the latest prototypes. They set up positions and make short work of the AI targets in the killing field. However, overnight their sentry goes missing, and when they find the corpse the next day they find themselves in the killing field and the tables have turned. The Marines fight to survive on an island that is overrun by an enemy intelligence far beyond their predecessors, which learns from their every move.
First off, I went into this eyes wide open as I'd read some reviews so I wasn't expecting Interstellar or Aliens, however I was really impressed and clearly some of the moaners have no love of films. I was born in the 70s, watched hokey sci fi in the 80s and this gives me a bit of latitude when it comes to rating films. The script and dialogue have gotten poor reviews in particular and let me tell you that this is easily on a par with Aliens or the first Terminator so let's not get too bogged down. The plot is simple enough and it's not rocket science to be ahead of the game in relation to where it's heading but it's the journey that we're here for. The special effects are excellent, think Edge of Tomorrow excellent, the location is also excellent and explained in film brilliantly. The acting is solid, each player knows their part and I was genuinely rooting for characters. The story line (as has been said) is predictable but who cares, it was executed spectacularly and I jumped several times and was right there with them. I really enjoyed this film and will be recommending it to friends I know who enjoy a well made romp. Those reviews that were snotty and pretentious? Ignore them. You know who you are and what films you were brought up watching. Get yourself a drink, some munchies, sit back and enjoy the ride!
I rarely watch a movie for more than one time. The Predator I saw around 50. Kill Command is a Predator made with ideas and technology more modern by 30 years. If you remember your feeling from watching the Predator for the first time - you will certainly enjoy Kill Command. A very balanced mix of action, thrill, suspense, characters and on-the-edge technology.
This movie does not fit the latest line of popular hits filled with fast changing flashing scenes inducing epileptic seizures in Japanese teens. It does portray future combat technology, but in a way that it feels very real as if it was taken from some secret lab in Area 51. Same as with the Predator you quickly forget this is a sci-fi movie. I guess this is its key feature.
I will watch it again tomorrow :)
