Rival nations are secretly developing weapons that could threaten the future of mankind. The mission turns into a catastrophic failure when Snake's former mentor, The Boss, defects to Russia and sets a nuke. Now alone and defenseless Snake must stop The Boss and her squad of crack special ops from unleashing nuclear war!
This game is fantastic. The music, the gameplay, the level of graphics on a PS2.
This is a true epic, the music is wonderful, the end of the game will have you stirred up in a unimaginable way.
The story starts out with our man Snake, being dropped into the Soviet jungle with little equipment. He has to rescue a rocket scientist who requested to be brought to America. But of course, things get more complicated than that.
Graphics: The graphics are incredible for a PS2. Just when you thought the system had nothing more to offer, this proves you wrong. 10/10
Music: The music is incredible, memorable and epic. They fit the action and cutscenes perfectly, frankly, I've never seen a game with so great music. 10/10

Gameplay: The gameplay is brilliant, the game breaks the fourth wall in game many times. You always have more than one way to do a certain things. Like the battle with one of the bosses, you can get past him in 3 different ways. The detail in the gameplay is evident all the way. You can do so much, this is remarkable for a game. The CQC moves are great, but many moves you don't really bother to use. Why use 5-6 seconds to strangle someone when you can just as easily slit their throats? I would just let Snake have one knife, which he use both in CQC and as the Survival Knife (When not equipped together with the pistol) And if you grab someone barehanded, you can't slit their throats and stuff. The game spends to much time in menus, which could annoying people, but it's not really that much. 9/10.
Story: Greatest story ever in a video game, no question about it. It's great, ties in with the era and all. Name one game outside the series that have a better story and I'll show you a green dog. 10/10
Voice acting: The voice acting is superb, a skillful cast indeed, the only exception is Snake himself which a FEW times sounds a little bad. But that's really nothing to care about. 10/10.
Short: You have to love this game, the story, music, everything. The characters are memorable, the boss fights are great. This game alone is reason enough to buy a PS2.
This game is a work of art. The gameplay, the graphics, the story, the characters, are all perfectly fitted into the game. I do not own this game but i rented it, and even though i beat it in about 2 days, i still would like to own it. This game far surpasses Metal gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. In this, you play as Naked Snake (Big boss), the whole time. You have to survive in the jungle but hunting and well obviously eating. The new cure system is a very good add on in my opinion. The boss fights are amazing. One of the best being the fight with the end(A dead sniper who comes back to life to kill Snake). One of the best visually though, has to be the fury. The best way to go through this game is stealth, although you could go through it killing everyone you see, but this makes it harder and also, by doing this, a fight with a certain boss may be a bit long. A cool new feature with this game is the camoflauge. Blending in with your surroundings and waiting for the perfect time to execute CQC (close quarters combat) will make you feel very accomplished. This game does take patience in some areas, but still very worth buying. The only flaw with this game, in my opinion, was the fact that i beat it in about 2 days, but still there is about no difference between playing this game and going to the movies. Overall I give this game a 9/10.
