Yakuza boss Anjo disappears with three hundred million yen. His loyal gang members, lead by the masochist Kakihara, start a search, but their aggressive and gory methods worry the other yakuza gangs. Kakiharas most frightening counterpart is the mysterious Ichi, a psychopathic killer with a dark childhood secret, who is controlled by a retired cop.
When a Yakuza boss named Anjo disappears with 300 million yen, his chief henchman, a sadomasochistic man named Kakihara, and the rest of his mob goons go looking for him. After capturing and torturing a rival Yakuza member looking for answers, they soon realize they have the wrong man and begin looking for the man named Jijii who tipped them off in the first place. Soon enough Kakihara and his men encounter Ichi, a psychotic, sexually-repressed young man with amazing martial arts abilities and blades that come out of his shoes. One by one Ichi takes out members of the Yakuza and all the while Kakihara intensifies his pursuit of Ichi and Ichi's controller Jijii. What will happen as the final showdown happens between the tortured and ultra-violent Ichi and the pain-craving Kakihara?
Don't get me wrong, I love violence and gore in movies, but this must've been one of the lamest excuses for a movie I have seen. I had to pause it at one point just so I could take a break and have a nap. I like violent cult movies, which is the reason I bothered to check this out in the first place, because I heard people talk about it. If they would have bothered to mention the stupid slow dialogue about how rape is cool, the close up on a puddle of semen, and the goofy kid who fights gangsters and then runs home crying, I would have had second thoughts about seeing it. There are better violent movies than this. Versus is pretty slow and has quite some bad dialogue, but it is far superior to this movie!
O.k.. this movie has no story what so ever , ... some of the action is so exaggerated that's cartoonish .... you might get overwhelmed at times...
But for shock value , it serves it's purpose , ... it's one of the bloodiest movies ever made... shocking ,violent...disgusting , taboo breaking...
Now , please stay away from the R rated version available at most video stores....
It's so heavily edited , it's almost an entire different movie , ...
It's like listening to music with ear plugs , ...
The Unrated version , will not disappoint to the depraved audiences.

Several scenes containing violence against women had to be cut for the British release. In the US, the film was released in a R-Rated version, which was cut by 11 minutes, as well as in an uncut unrated version. The R-Rated has been cut by roughly the same amount of time as the German version. Unlike the German version, however, they did not cut whole sections of the movie in the R-Rated. More scenes with sexual content are missing, though. For example, the film title, forming from a pool of sperm, was removed completely.
