In 2005, Schmidt and Jenko are high school students, one an honor roll geek, the other a cool, athletic underachiever. By 2012, they are rookie cops, paired together, on bike patrol yearning to make arrests. After a screw up, they're sent undercover back to high school to find the source of a dangerous synthetic drug. They mix up their names, and Schmidt gets the no-brainer classes where he auditions for Peter Pan and falls in love with Wendy; Jenko gets AP classes where he falls in with high-achieving dweebs. This second chance at high school gives Schmidt delusions of grandeur, which threaten the operation. Can they sort out their relationship as they stumble onto the bad guys? In 2005, Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko were polar opposites in high school. Schmidt did well in school, but his geekish personality made it hard to him to gain acceptance among his peers. Jenko was a jock with plenty of friends but had poor grades. Seven years later, the duo join the police force and they become friends. The duo finally catch a break when they are assigned to go undercover as high school students and halt the spread of a synthetic drug that many students are getting their hands on and catch the supplier. After their identities are inadvertently mixed up, Schmidt finds himself among the popular kids, including the school's main drug dealer, while Jenko finds himself ostracized and frowned upon by most of the students. Schmidt's attempts to make something of himself leads to a rift with Jenko and threatens to derail the entire operation. Can they get their act together before the synthetic drug spirals out of control? This is one of those few movies where the movie is better than the trailer. And the trailer ain't even misleading. Cause when I saw the trailer to this movie I had low expectations for it, but it turned out to actually be a funny comedy. I thought the comedy would be something similar to "The Other Guys" which is a movie I really disliked. But I was relieved to find out that the two protagonist are idiot characters but they don't try to act so darn forced to act like idiots to be funny. This movie embraces stereotype in a funny manner sometimes, now the key word here is funny. Without it trying to be overly offensive or malicious while using these stereotypes. The partnership between the two protagonist is a dorky smart guy and a brainless jock that is actually likable. Anyways they didn't really get along or anything like that although the attended the same high school at the same time. But they both end up training at the same police academy and end up being best for buds. And after they both become cops they go undercover back to high school to find the suppliers for a drug that kills teens. But it's engaging and it's just never gets boring or start to run out of steam. Yeah some parts are just too stereotypical, but they don't go super overboard to the point the whole thing is ridiculous. Even the girl that the smart dork falls for isn't the hottest girl in school or anything like that. Cause the hot cheerleader falling for the kid with the heart of gold scenario has been done to death and not all that believable. But in this the guy actually might have a chance. Anyways when it comes to the undercover part which takes up most of the movie I found it intriguing how the popular jock back in the day end up chilling with the nerds and the smart dork hangs with the popular kids. So they both handle areas they never been before. And it's funny how things play-out. But what stood out a lot is how realistic and relatable it is when it comes to the teens in high school and what they do during free-time. This movie is just fun all the way through. When it comes to buddy cop movies, this is good as "Rush Hour 2".

8.2/10 Only a few days ago I wrote in this blog that I've said the words "Channing Tatum? I'm not watching that..." far too many times. As an actor he's limited himself to mindless action films (note "G.I. Joe") or vomit-inducing chick flicks (don't see "The Vow"), which are the types of movies which I usually try to distance myself from. When I sat down with the family to watch "21 Jump Street", my hopes weren't that high, but I must confess now that I found him bearable and actually quite funny here. This is an enjoyable and self-aware comedy, with some good performances, that only occasionally crosses the line in terms of crudity.

In the film, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum play cop partners, who went to high-school together and did not get on. Hill was the nerdy kid while Tatum was the handsome jock who bullied him. They meet many years later when both sign up for the police force, and decide that their partnership would allow each to motivate the other. Due to some difficult and hilarious circumstances, the two are punished by being moved to the "21 Jump Street" division and sent undercover into a high-school to investigate a drug problem there. Much of the comedy comes from the two integrating themselves back into school life, accidentally taking each others' fake personalities, and being generally awkward.

The cast of the film is very strong, with Jonah Hill's comedic performance being one of the best I've seen him in yet. In the supporting cast, Brie Larson plays a great love interest for Hill's character, and Ice Cube brings some fantastic self-referential humour into the film, about how ridiculous the concept of the '21 Jump Street' operation actually is. The fact that the film knows how implausible most of it is makes it all the more funny throughout. Dave Franco makes for a fairly believable bad guy, but the standout performance in the film goes to Nick Offerman, despite his small screen time, for his deadpan Police Chief, which is utterly hilarious.

The film is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who also helmed the first 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' film and 'The LEGO Movie'. As shows in all of these films, their talent as comedic directors is extremely good, and they create a believable world for the characters. The film's greatest problem is that sometimes the jokes don't work, and some go too far. The crude nature of a lot of the film turned me off it slightly, particularly the final gross-out gag at the climax of the film. It doesn't feel particularly necessary, and is just a bit disgusting. It is this brand of comedy that is prominent in the not-so-funny "Hangover" movies, but thankfully not all of the jokes in this film are based on it. All in all, "21 Jump Street" is a funny and interesting comedy, and despite a few flaws, is incredibly watchable. Jonah Hill is masterful at delivering an absurd story with so much sweetness, the nonsense ceases to get in the way. While at Hamilton high school (2005), Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) was an honor roll geek and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) was a popular but underachieving jock. Seven years later, they both graduate from the Metropolitan City Police Academy and are partnered with each other. Because of their youthful looks and the fact that they forgot to read a suspect his Miranda rights, they are assigned to go undercover in a high school in order to infiltrate a drug ring and catch the supplier. Schmidt, under the name Brad McQuaid, is "enrolled" in advanced placement (AP) classes; while Jenko, as his brother Doug, is placed in the no-brainer classes. Unfortunately, they get their undercover names mixed up, and Schmidt attends the no-brainer classes while Jenko attends the AP classes. 21 Jump Street is based on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987) (1987-1991). The story and screenplay were written by Jonah Hill and American screenwriter Michael Bacall. It is followed by 22 Jump Street (2014) (2014). If anything, the film is a continuation of the series and works as a reboot of the franchise. Captain Hardy states that "21 Jump Street" was a project in the 1980s, the time of the series, and is being revived. Also, several actors reprise their characters. "Rescue Song" by Mr. Little Jeans Atoms are composed of a nucleus containing positively-charged protons and a shell in which negatively-charged electrons orbit around the nucleus, much like a sun and its planets. When two (or more) atoms bond with each other, they form a molecule. The difference between a covalent bond and an ionic bond is how the two atoms are linked to each other to form the molecule. In an ionic bond, the electron of one atom is transferred to the other atom, effectively making one atom positive (cation) and the other negative (anion), and positives are attracted to negatives, so the atoms "stick" to each other. In covalent bonding, both atoms share the same electron. This sharing of an electron also helps make two atoms stick together. Mr Walters (Rob Riggle) and Eric (Dave Franco) escape in a limo with Molly (Brie Larson) as a hostage. Domingo (DeRay Davis) and Karl (Randal Reeder) escape in a second limo. Schmidt and Jenko pursue them in a third limo, all three of them weaving through the streets and baging into parked cars. Jenko creates a homemade bomb based on his knowledge of covalent bonds, learned from his AP Chemistry class, flings it into Domingo and Karl's limo, causing it to blow up. They then turn their sights on Mr Walters' limo. Walters exits the car, holding a gun to Molly's head, and vows to shoot her. Jenko fires his gun but finds that it is out of bullets. As Schmidt prepares to fire, Walters shoots at him, but Jenko leaps in front of Schmidt, taking the bullet in the arm. Schmidt fires at Walters, hitting him in the groin. As they stand over the writhing Walters, Schmidt and Jenko read him his Miranda rights, then high-five each other. In the final scene, Schmidt and Jenko walk into the office amid cheers from their colleagues. Captain Dickson (Ice Cube) congratulates them and informs them of their next assignment ...they're to go undercover in college. Yes. Judy Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete) gives Greg and Morton their new car. Stock footage of Harry Truman Ioki (Dustin Nguyen) appears on a television set in the hotel room. Tom Hanson (Johnny Depp) and Doug Penhall (Peter DeLuise) appear as DEA agents. Additionally, Greg shares the same last name as Captain Richard Jenko (Frederic Forrest). a5c7b9f00b
