A game warden moves his family to Lake Placid, once the site of deadly crocodile attacks. Locals assure him the crocs are gone, but his mischievous young son finds a few baby crocs and begins feeding them. They quickly grow into very big adults and start attacking the game warden's family and nearby town. Killer crocodiles and their offspring terrorize residents of a small community. No, this movie will never see an Oscar BUT...who watches these movies and truly expects a high quality product? I find the poor quality CGI to be amusing. The entire movie was filmed on a budget of $2,500,000 in Bulgaria. A list actors get more than that for just their individual role. It's another fine example of a modern "B" movie cranked out by SyFy. It didn't drag, the acting wasn't cringe worthy and I didn't need to pause it if I needed to go to the bathroom. Pop some popcorn and enjoy...it is what it is...An inexpensive movie using modestly known TV actors and admittedly, riding on the coat tails of a franchise that is played out. Comparisons between this movie and the likes of a modern Star Trek movie just really isn't fair. It's a low budget movie which could fair favorably when compared with the original Godzilla or even the original Swamp Thing. Think of the worst film that you've ever seen. This is worse. There is nothing good here. The movie starts off reasonably badly, and then declines, almost exponentially. What did they do, hire a 12 year old school boy to write the script? Did they only choose actors and crew that were willing to work for nothing? If it's a profit sharing deal they will have to mortgage their houses. Is Michael Ironside that desperate? Finally, the special effects - they looked like the work of an amateur playing around with freeware - CGI at it's most primitive. I've seen better special effects in a 60s Sinbad movie. I won't go on. The original Lake Placid is worth the hire, but stop there. Matter of fact, the recently-released US DVD contains the Unrated Version. Besides several trivial extended plot scenes, the main differences are the nudity scenes, which really upvalue the movie. In almost any scene, where a girl shows her boobs, the TV Version contains alternate more harmless footage. The splatter scenes remain unharmed and are pretty bloody for a tv production, even though they're rare. a5c7b9f00b
