In the Eighteenth Century, Rayne is the half-human half-vampire Dhampir and the lead attraction in a carnival's freak-show in Romania. When she escapes, she meets a fortuneteller that tells that her mother was raped by the king of the vampires Kagan and she decides to destroy her father. In her journey for revenge, she meets Vladimir and Sebastian, the leaders of the fortress of vampire hunters Brimstone, and she joins their society. She seeks for powerful talismans to defeat Kagan, while the skilled warriors Vladimir and Sebastian train her to face the forces of Kagan and her human side falls in love with Sebastian. In eighteenth century Romania, Rayne, a dhampir (half-human, half-vampire), prone to fits of blind blood rage but saddled with a compunction for humans, strives to avenge her mother's rape by her father, Kagan, King of Vampires. Two vampire hunters, Sebastian and Vladimir, from the Brimstone Society persuade her to join their cause. This film is a near masterpiece of modern bad film-making. Uwe Boll is about the closest thing to an Ed Wood we've got nowadays and some day I think he'll be just as appreciated as Ed Wood is. When your watching this remember it's no ordinary film experience. This movie is bad cinema and if you go into it thinking that you're going to be entertained in the way that you've been entertained by other better made summer blockbusters you're going to be disappointed. THis is no ordinary film, don't expect it to be. Now this one clearly isn't Boll's masterpiece, parts of it are sheer brilliance, but it falters here and there. Dungeon Siege, on the other hand, looks very promising. We shall see. I was rather enthused about seeing Kristianna Loken in a tight suit, fighting vampires and such, but was left so completely disappointed that i felt compelled to write something here, warning other people about this useless waste of time and effort. I use the term effort lightly since both cast and crew obviously did not really try at all. I liked the underworld films, despite their sometimes thin story, and logical errors because they were well made graphically and that made them entertaining. In Bloodrayne the actors didn't even bother to phone it in, they have simply put smileys and emoticons on the script and faxed it through their agents. It is absolutely ridiculous the way they sometimes try to speak with an accent, and other times just give up mid sentence. Had the dielog had some kind of substance to it I might not have noticed. The fight scenes are also some of the least impressive i have seen, ever. They look like something you would see on the History channel, when they try to remake roman battles using overeager enthusiasts and shooting it on High 8. Now, all of this could have been tolerated had there been some dialog or a story that sometimes made sense in there somewhere, but there just isn't. They also put in one of the dumbest sex scenes i have ever seen in there. Although you get to see Lokens tits for a while, it's just embarrassing. What the hell are all those known actors doing in this movie? Did the production team spend 98% of the budget on the actors and left the rest to chance and good faith? It seems so! While there's no fun in mediocrity, ludicrousness is another matter. Boll is the best at what he does, and what he does is make truly terrible films. In 18th century Romania, vampire Rayne (Kristanna Loken) learns that she is actually a dhampir, half-human half-vampire, created when her father Kagan (Ben Kingsley), the King of the Vampires, raped and subsequently murdered her mother (Daniela Nane). Determined to avenge her mother, Rayne links up with three members of the secret Brimstone Society—Vladimir (Michael Madsen), Sebastian (Matthew Davis), and Katarin (Michelle Rodriguez)—who train her to fight vampires while she searches for three magical items—an eye, a rib, and a heart—that will make her powerful enough to defeat her father. BloodRayne is based on a 2002 video game of the same name by the video-game development company called Terminal Reality. A sequel movie, BloodRayne II: Deliverance (2007), was released direct-to-video in 2007. A third movie, BloodRayne: The Third Reich (2011) (2010) also went direct-to-video Yes, completely. The original game is about a dhampir named Rayne who works for the Brimstone society during World War II-era Germany. She battles monsters, vampires, and Nazis along the way; each step brings her closer to battling her father Kagan, a powerful vampire responsible for her mother's death. The movie version is set in 18h century Romania, where the Brimstone society recruits Rayne to aid them in battling Kagan. Yes. Boll paid them 150 euros each for participating in a scene shared with Meat Loaf. That was revealed in the Stockholm Film Festival by the director himself. In the USA two versions of the movie have been released: an R-rated and unrated version. The unrated version differs from the R-rated version in three violent scenes and contains an alternate ending as well. a5c7b9f00b
