Hawaii doesn't have its own state police force but the Governor has set up a special task force, which becomes known as "Five-0", to investigate serious crimes on the islands. Reserve Naval officer Steve McGarrett heads the team with Danny Williams as his second in command and together they tackle a range of crimes with more far-reaching consequences than those dealt with by HPD, including terrorism and serious organized crime.
Steve McGarrett returns home to Oahu, in order to find his father's killer. The Governor offers him the chance to run his own task force (Five-0).
I'm not happy with where Steve and Catherine left things. They belong together, so put them together. I'd like to see him in a strong relationship and that "Lynn" character, is not it. Disappointed to watch this. Also, where is Chin's girlfriend? He deserves to be happy too. Just because they're in law enforcement doesn't mean stable relationships are a no-go. On a side note, 10 lines of text, really? I summed it up quickly, my bad I guess. Are you looking for plot suggestions? I feel like I'm in school and can't turn my paper in because I didn't have enough words. So, I'm really, really, really disappointed in this episode and very, very sad with how it ended.
When I first heard that they were going to reboot Five-O, I was dreading it because most attempts to not only remake, but reboot a series rarely, if ever work. However, this is definitely one that not only works, but in some ways it surpasses the original. This show definitely relies more on the characterization of the four characters. In McGarrett, with Alex O'Laughlin perfectly cast in the role, you have a guy who becomes the leader of Five-O even though he isn't really experienced as a cop. Daniel Dae Kim is great as Chin. He is a lot younger than Kam Fong, but he is great as a mentor to not only McGarrett, but to Kono and Danny as well. Grace Park definitely ups the sex appeal factor, but she definitely shows the vulnerability that Zulu never showed in the role. However, the biggest revelation is Scott Caan as Danny. He not only adds a bit of cynicism to the role that James MacArthur never had, but he adds a lot of the humor that sets this version apart from the original.
