Bruce Wayne is kidnapped whilst protesting the use of Arkham City, a dilapidated part of Gotham that is used to house the resident of Arkham Asylum. He is trapped inside the facility, forced to fight the most powerful criminals in Gotham, and confront Hugo Strange.
When part of Gotham is turned into a private reserve for criminals known as Arkham City, all hell is sure to break loose, and the Dark Knight is the only one who can stop it.
Rocksteady's 2011 game " Batman: Arkham City " is one of- if not , THE - greatest games ever made. It's gameplay is an immersive experience , really making you feel as if you ARE the Caped Crusader. The game also builds upon it's near perfect combat system from the previous game , allowing for a smoother and more tactical fighting style. The Boss fights are really well done , from the dialogue to the combat , everything's great. My personal favourites are: The Hallunicated Battle with Rãs Al Ghul , the Final Fight with Clay Face , and the extremely complex and fun Ice Battle with Mr. Freeze.
But the Arkham games aren't just known for their gameplay , the stories which they tell are original and often some of the best Batman stories ever told. In this story , Batman is thrown into Arkham City ; a cornered off super-prison right in the heart of Gotham ; by Hugo Strange and is forced to fight for his life in the hellish prison. The story really picks up when two things are happening at once: On the one hand , you have Batman trying to find a cure to his now poisoned blood ( courtesy of the Joker ) , and on the other you have Batman struggling against TYGER forces and Hugo Strange. The story has many twists , turns and just really feels like something you'd seen on an early Saturday Morning episode in the 90s of ' Batman: The Animated Series '.
It also makes sense you could link this game to that , as Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill return to yet again brilliantly play the roles of Batman and the Joker. Batman's voice is intimidating and often rough , while Joker's is sleak and now a little sick as well.
The graphics are now not considered so great , but still for an 2011 game were spectacular.
I would recommend this game to anyone , now and forever. Play it!
Batman Arkham City is beyond compare. It contains the heroes and villains that we all know and love like Joker, Mr Freeze, Catwoman and even some that we honestly don't care about such Calendar man (luckily he doesn't have a huge part in the game). The game mechanics and environment are of the highest quality. The detail is perfect and the combat and gliding makes any other superhero game look like Mindjack (see Angry Joe Mindjack review on youtube to understand what I mean).
Boss fights are sublime and varied in techniques which is a huge improvement on the last game. The Joker is absolutely fantastic. Mark Hamills portrayal as the clown prince of crime truly is a stroke of genius. In my view the Joker is a better character in effort and more interesting than the Dark Knight himself. It is obvious that this game is pure class but it's not without it's faults. So I am going to bite the bullet and point out the faults of this otherwise perfect game.
The environment maybe be brilliant in detail but it could have been bigger. This game was in production for two years and compared to a map we may see in Assassin's Creed which has half the production time, it seems inferior in scale and variety. The only other complaint would be the length. Whilst there is so much to do in this game, I can't help but feel that the story line was rushed.
Overall, this game has many more qualities than flaws. It is worth paying for and should be played several times to truly appreciate the quality and brilliance that rocksteady and DC comics delivers.

Killer Croc - Appears in a secret easter egg in the sewers near Wonder City, but does not pose a threat to the player.
While the Scarecrow does not appear physically, his mask is an Easter egg, as is his hideout.No official reason given so far. Tara Strong has taken over the role, so the character will still appear. After Batman rescues Vicki Vale, there's a scene of the two of them talking. In the middle of this, it cuts to an alternate angle where our P.O.V. is over the Mad Hatter's shoulder. He puts on his hat and leaves. A moment later you are prompted to check a new side mission, check the map and follow the link. Find a rooftop with cats, located on the map. You will then be prompted to switch to a different player if desired. No, the only time the Killer Croc encounter can be triggered is right after your battle with Ra's al Ghul. When you enter the room, throw batarangs at the two lit question marks, this will cause a platform at the far end of the room to descend. Use your line launcher to reach it. Then hit two more lit question marks to ascend. Line launch to the hostage and you are done. The victim is supposidly hidden in one of three barrels that are being mixed around before your eyes. Riddler will try to cheat, but two can play at that game. Use Detective Mode and you'll see the hostage being lowered and placed under the leftmost barrel. When Riddler tells you to choose, hit the far left question mark and the hostage is rescued. For the one with the electrified floor, use your line launcher tightrope to wait out the electricity (upgrade required). For the gas chamber, use your freeze blasts to block the vents. Find this one AFTER your encounter with Mr. Freeze. There are four:
1. After you exit the couthouse, just on top of the building to your right.
2. on top of the ferris wheel after you exit the steel mill.
3. On the opposite building to you after you talk to Quincy Sharp.
4. Just after you save Vicki Vale, on the building to your right. The Monarch Theater and the Chamber of the Demon cannot be entered when the story mode is over. The Iceberg Lounge is still accessible, but cannot be entered from the door inside the museum. a5c7b9f00b
