An animated comedy about two stepbrothers who find inventive things to do on each day of their summer vacation such as building a roller coaster out of materials you would find in your everyday home like Popsicle sticks, indoor plumbing, etc. Unbeknownst to them, their pet platypus, Perry, leads a double life as a secret agent.
Phineas and Ferb's backyard is the neighborhood hotspot for all of their cool inventions. Meanwhile, their elder sister Candace is obsessed with busting her brothers for all the inventions to her mom once and for all. Simultaneously, their secret-agent pet platypus fouls the "evil" schemes and plans of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
Congratulations, Disney...you have contributed more trash to our already messed up culture.
1.CHARACTERS:Phineas gives my face the same expression as watching the historical channel, no smile no nothing. Ferb...Is just put there as a follower of Phineas because the writers ran out of ideas on what to do with him.Their sister (Forgot her name) did nothing more than talk on her phone and say her overused line of "MOM!!!!"
2.PLOT: Is Crap...Seriously were the writers held at gunpoint?, Or did the producer's dog edit them?. Nothing Funny Or Lovable...And this is coming from a girl who has seen SWAC.
3.TARGETS: Phinea's needs some Ritalin, Ferb needs to visit a strip club and get wasted, (girl) looks and sounds like a parrot.
This is a children's flick with acting so bad, it makes the 80's look like the pinnacle of Oscar-worthy performances. This movie has all the clichés possible... the brothers, the stereotypical TV Mom, the "hot" girl and her bitchy phone friends, the scary old man and his fish... you name it, it's in there. I took one for a lot of people by watching this. Consider my hour and 40 minutes a sacrifice to you. Please, don't see this movie. Don't make it so I suffered in vain.
Over the past few years, The Disney Channel hasn't had much luck with shorts, animated or otherwise. "Shorty McShort's Shorts" had some good episodes and some bad. "As the Bell Rings" tends to be flat-out lame. But this time, they seem to have added a good one.
Phineas and Ferb are step-brothers on summer vacation. One boring day, Phineas recognizes an important truth; Summer vacation will end, and the teachers will want to know what they did on their summer vacation. And with these two kids, it has to be something extravagant, whether it's building a super roller-coaster, or a homemade beach, or converting the family station wagon into a racing car or monster truck, or any other fantastic activity. Candace(Ashley Tisdale) is Phineas' older sister, and the last thing she wants to have is her brothers doing something out of the ordinary, and she always tries to get her brother and step-brother in trouble for their activities. Luckily, they never get caught, and you'd think that they'd want revenge against her for trying to stop them. But no, they actually love their sister... so much so that they even add her head on Mt. Rushmore as a birthday gift. When she isn't trying to expose her brother & step-brother's elaborate summer activities or having some sort of allergic reaction, she harbors a crush on a boy named Jeremy(Mitchell Musso). Speaking of crushes, a girl next door has one on Phineas. Her name is Isabella and she is voiced by the great Alyson Stoner. In her, what was originally a running gag by Brenda Song in "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" has become a catch-phrase. She's also the leader of a local girl-scout type troop called the Fireside Girls, who she frequently rallies to help her would-be boyfriend.
Phineas also has a pet platypus named Perry, who lives a double life as a secret agent. His arch nemesis is Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz(co-creator Dan Povenmire). Talk about your goofy villains. This guy makes Dr. Drakken look like Osama Bin Laden. With a big corporate office, a cheerful jingle and one evil plot after another, just think of the 1990's version of Lex Luthor with a silly-gene, and you've got Dr. Doofenshmirtz. He's even got a daughter who keeps trying to tell his ex-wife about his evil plots and has as much success in doing so as Candace.
Overall, while it's no "Kim Possible," or "American Dragon: Jake Long," it's still an enjoyable cartoon. Having said that, considering the time of year it's supposed to take place in, the rest of the episodes should've premiered in or near summertime. Sure, the sneak preview already did air last summer, but it doesn't seem like that'd be enough. If you can look past that, you can still get a kick out of this 'toon.
They are step brothers. Phineas' mother is married to Ferb's father. Candace is Phineas' older sister. The creators have been very clear that this is not set in stone and that Phineas and Ferb will have plenty of time to have as many adventures as they can. Fans shouldn't worry about the show ending after 104 episode segments. Despite all the fan speculation, this will likely never be revealed. Just like the nature of the relationships ending (divorce, etc.), this is a subject that is probably too deep to be answered. It is, after all, a cartoon. Don't think too hard about this. Creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh have repeatedly stated that they want to leave their ages ambiguous because kids can identify with them more easily and assign them an age the same as their own. The reason that several websites list their age as "under 15" is that Candace turns 15 in "Candace Loses Her Head" and the boys are younger than she is.
However, in the episode "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo," Linda Flynn refers to her now grown son and step-son as "30 years old now." This episode takes place "20 years in the future." In all likelihood, one or both of these numbers are round figures and not meant to be exact. They are most often identified as somewhere between the ages of 9 and 12. Candace believes that if she did the same thing, she'd get in trouble so her brothers should, too. She sometimes finds the things they do pretty awesome and that makes her jealous. In addition, some of the things they do are very dangerous and she loves them and doesn't want to see them get hurt.
In some of the episodes, it's implied that Candace shouldn't be so adamant on busting her brothers and just go have some fun. (ref. "Wizard of Odd" and "Ready For the Betty's" Like the city of Springfield on The Simpsons, Danville is wherever the writers need it to be. There are several real world cities called Danville, but none of them fit the show's needs of being close enough to Mt. Rushmore to drive there in a few hours, yet have a huge port and beach. However Dr. Doofenshmirtz did point to it on a map of the U.S.. Although the map didn't even have state boundaries on it, let alone any finer detail, he points to an area in the mid-west to southwest of the country. However at times it has a major coastal harbor, and other times it sits on a river. However it is not a place that has a real latitude and longitude location and exists where it needs to for that episode because in the roller-coaster episode Danville is closer to the east coast.
Adding to the intentional ambiguity, Danville is situated in one of the three (anomalous) states that comprise the "Tri-State Area". He's a platypus. They don't do much. While you could argue that some of his plots are evil and that he isn't the nicest of people, he tends not to be evil in the traditional sense, but rather overly dramatic, eccentric and generally clueless. He claims that Perry is his nemesis, but Perry and the evil doctor have a bit of a love-hate relationship. Doofenshmirtz has been visibly upset when Perry has not shown up to defeat him. Perry, on the other hand, was heartbroken when he was replaced by Peter the Panda.
It could also be theorized that Perry's and Doofenshmirtz's rivalry could just be "work related" in essence, as a few episodes have shown them facing each other, when Perry is not on a mission, and no battles take place. "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation" is set in the winter after the summer we see in the regular episodes. There is also some character growth in Phineas when he says during the theme song that "not everything can be fun." a5c7b9f00b
