The war between man and machine is waging and humanity's savior, John Connor is doing his best. He learns that his nemesis, Skynet is searching for the one who will father him, Kyle Reese so he tries to find him. And at the same time he thinks he found a way to stop Skynet. One of Connor's people gets in trouble and meets a man named Marcus who has not knowledge of Judgement Day and the War. It seems like he was a man who was about to be executed just before Judgement Day and before his execution, a doctor approached him asking if he would allow her to use his body for a project she's working on and he agreed. Which was his last memory. When he and the rebel return to camp something happens and when Marcus awakens he is chained up and Connor shows him that he is not completely human. Connor thinks he's one of Skynet's Terminators who was sent to kill him and Kyle Reese. Marcus denies what he is talking about and tells Connor that he was with Kyle Reese and that he was captured and is being brought to Skynet. Connor sets out to rescue Kyle. The woman Marcus left helps him escape and when Connor confronts him, Marcus says he will do what he can to save Kyle. Connor lets him go. In 2018, Skynet has destroyed most of humanity and survivors have been hiding underground from an army of machines, known as "Terminators". After a failed attack on a Skynet base, John Connor, the man fated to lead the Resistance is the sole survivor. On the other hand, Marcus Wright, who only remembers being on death row, meets Kyle Reese and it is believed by Connor that he was sent from the future to kill him. Now Marcus and John must unlikely join forces in order to save Kyle Reese and the humans captured by the machines. I just got back from the Thursday 12:01AM showing of "Terminator: Salavation", the first showing in my area, which was basically Wednesday night. So, you know that I am a fan of the series, having seen the first movie in the theaters, and all of them since, even the last, which I thought was terrible. I also watched Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I had its moments and I thought generally positive of.

I have to say that I was disappointed in the sense that this was not really a movie in my opinion. It was an attempt to keep the Terminator franchise open for more mediocre movies, like a higher than TV quality series. There was a coldness and aloofness to this movie like the writer did not want to go anywhere near the Terminator mythology.

After all these renditions of Terminator, who is John Connor? Christian Bale is as serious and grimacing as Clint Eastwood, but I felt he did not bring much to the role. It was not his fault, I think there was nothing for him to sink his teeth into, because there was no movie here. It was a series of special effect ... the biggest enemy of these kinds of movies is that they are overwhelmed by their special effects.

In this case special effects abounded. Good ones, such as the air battles between the human jets and the terminator hunter-killers - and bad ones, surprisingly the clunk articulation of the Terminators themselves, which except for shininess were no more developed or realistic. Looking at the heads of these things, which we get many chance to do, we only see a fierce looking face, not a fully articulated mouth and jaw which would be needed for a robot to really fool humans in to believing they were real.

There was no mention of the liquid metal Terminator, or of time travel. At the end of the movie this "adventure" was spun as a battle in the ongoing war against Skynet. In other words this movie was basically a lot of bang and crash to get people to accept a movie with no heart, no point, and poor character development in the nostalgic hope that they will want to recapture the wonder of the Terminator movies and pay for more mediocrity.

I hate to say it, but I think this is the end for me. Hollywood is cynical and crass, and clueless when it comes to what people like and see in such franchises as Terminator, or Star Trek, or even in the blatantly stupid looking trailer I saw of Robert Downey playing Sherlock Holmes tonight in the theater before the show.

I honestly cannot help but think that this lack of demand for quality and obliviousness to satisfying the audience with a meaningful story that gives them something to think about longer than an explosion is due to a pathology in the American soul brought about by corporatization and commoditization of everything that has plunged us into an alienation from our own mythology and dreams into a continually distracted and manipulated consumer audience who is told what to do think and like. Terminator Salvation was an entertaining movie. It also is a movie that informed viewers of the past as to why the characters were so important. Just in case others did not know what happened or did not view the previous movies. I thought that it had a good story line, good build up, and a few unexpected surprises. I give this movie 8 out of 10, due to some lack of passion in the action scenes. I believe that music is a very important component of a movie. It was not incorporated into the movie as well as it could've been. The movie could've been better of course, but nonetheless was still enjoyable and worth seeing on the big screen. Yet what makes this movie is the digital effects. It's got all the heart of a demolition derby. In 2018, 14 years since Judgment Day (July 25th, 2004) started the world war between humans and Skynet machines, Resistance leader John Connor (Christian Bale) is searching for his father, Kyle Reese, the man whom John must send back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), from being killed by the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a cyborg sent by Skynet to prevent Sarah from ever giving birth to John. Meanwhile, teenage Kyle (Anton Yelchin) has joined forces with the criminal Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), the only one to have survived a nuclear attack on Skynet's Cyberdyne Systems base. Soon their paths are going to cross. Terminator: Salvation is the fourth movie in the Terminator series, preceded by The Terminator (1984) (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) (1991) and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) (2003), and followed by Terminator Genisys (2015) (2015). The screenplay for Terminator: Salvation was written by American screenwriters John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris. The movie was subsequently novelized by American scifi writer Alan Dean Foster in 2009. All trailers for the Terminator Salvation feature film can be viewed here. Hydrobot, T-1 Unit, Aerostat, Harvester, Mototerminator, Aerial Hunter-Killer, Transport, Ground Hunter-Killer, T-600, T-700, T-800, T-R.I.P. (Resistance Infiltrator Prototype), and Marcus. Dr. Serena Kogen was originally scripted to be a Terminator, but the idea was scrapped in rewrites. Marcus was a criminal who was executed in 2003. He donated his body to Project Angel headed by Serena Kogen, which was involved with Skynet. They take his body and make him into a Terminator; Marcus is probably the most human cyborg Skynet created, a prototype endoskeleton, the frame is not mentioned (he is not a T-800, the chest plate when shown is completely different as well as his hand seen in the end, also he is smaller in height). Marcus still possesses his human heart and brain with a chip at the base of his skull that wirelessly connects him directly to Skynet. Marcus believes he is human, and everyone he meets does not even suspect he is a machine. It's possible that Skynet anticipated this while building him and created a special type of metal alloy that is extremely light weight but near indestructible in order for him to appear as human as possible. It's stated that he is the only one of his kind, so it's possible his metal endoskeleton weighs no more than a human skeleton would, or perhaps just slightly heavier. Therefore, he has the ability to float and run much faster. He also feels pain, making him even more unusual and may have been a deliberate design characteristic used by Skynet to make him seem more human to any humans he encounters. According to the book, he walks on the bottom instead of swimming. In the film, he appears to be swimming as he leaves Connor, but only using his right arm. Also, the water didn't seem to be very deep to begin with, just over knee-high. One counterargument about the metal of his skeleton being light weight: when he's being carried into the infirmary of Connor's command center, one of the people carrying him says "this guy weighs a ton" (a line we hear in Terminator 3) so he obviously weighs more than a human of his size and build. When Marcus was built, Skynet made use of at least part of his human brain, which is vulnerable to trauma. Though it was well-protected in his cyborg skull, it probably still could be knocked around inside the casing or simply structurally disturbed by inertia/torsion, and Marcus blacked out when Barnes hit him. The brain of a normal human, encased in it's skull, is actually quite well protected and even pressurized slightly to absorb normal shocks associated with sudden head movement however, as we're all aware, a blow to the head can cause unconsciousness or concussion. Marcus' brain probably has similar characteristics. In The Terminator, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) stated that the resistance mostly fought at night, but they still had to be very cautious moving around due to the HKs' use of infrared. This movie takes place in 2018, not 2029. Tactical plans could have changed between those two time periods. Perhaps they started out doing missions in the day and later realized it would be more beneficial if they fought at night. Another theory suggests that it's General Ashdown (Michael Ironside)'s decision to fight during the day, since John Connor (Christian Bale) isn't the leader of the resistance just yet, and Ashdown is a very arrogant and headstrong leader. Even with Connor's advice, Ashdown would likely ignore it. In this film, Reese (Anton Yelchin) says that they fight during the day because machines have infrared technology, making them more dangerous at night time, seeing as how infrared would be harder to lock onto a target during a hot sunny day than on a cool dark night. (The tactics and technology may have been switched from the original film and this film because the technology surrounding infrared has improved significantly since 1984, thus making it more effective at night.) a5c7b9f00b
